About SUPERSTRUCTURES We are a prolific, award-winning E/A firm dedicated to the preservation and renewal of NYC’s buildings and infrastructure. We work on significant and challenging projects, including courthouses, schools, universities, churches, housing, and hospitals, and many of New York's most storied landmarks for the region’s premier public, corporate, and residential clients. Our focus is the building "skin and skeleton", embracing all components of the building envelope and underlying structure—facades, roofs, windows, and plazas—and the full complement of materials, from historic terra-cotta to high-performance curtain walls. We consistently produce construction documents that have been called the “Gold Standard” by our clients. We’re innovators, continually leveraging the latest tools and technology to drive restoration practice into the 21st century. Required Education and Experience A degree in architecture, and 3+ years of relevant experience. Qualifications Talent, dedication, and passion for building restoration is a must, and we’ll help you build on that foundation. About the Position and Responsibilities You’ll work within a “studio” that offers the dual advantages of a small office environment coupled with access to the centralized resources of a larger firm. You'll be supported by some of the most sophisticated technology in the profession, including proprietary computer systems and software, reality capture, and image processing, artificial intelligence, digital asset management, non-destructive diagnostic equipment and techniques. You'll conduct building investigations, produce reports, and prepare construction documents And be present in the field while your designs are implemented. Our Firm is currently seeking a DOB Project Manager to join our construction consulting firm in Midtown, Manhattan. This position is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team and utilize their construction expertise on interesting and challenging projects. PM Responsibilities are: • Review Plans for completeness. • Perform limited code/zoning consultation. • Develop filing strategies for all types of projects. • Prepare filing form work. • Coordinate C.O. signoffs; attend field meetings, mock inspections and construction inspections. • Meet with DOB Staff when needed for large scale projects. • Manage Assistant Project Managers and Field Staff to be sure projects are on track. Also be able to: • Process DOB filing sign-offs • Prepare form work for and obtain initial DOB Work permits • Communicate permit expiration with clients and renew permits • Establish safety registrations and general superintendent registrations • Track and Renew contractor insurance Key requirements: • Must be a Class 2 filing representative. • Proficient with DOB on-line systems (BIS, DOB Now and E-filing) • Understanding of DOB project filing techniques, including HUB filings in order to determine permit and signoff requirements • Ability to effectively work with clients • Ability to communicate problems with staff if they occur • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously • Coordinate and track the progress of the tasks with staff expediters. I am looking for an architect or engineer with at least some experience testifying in court in cases involving illegal construction in New York City. You would need to get the plans from the city, look at photos, determine whether and to what extent illegal construction is being done, give sworn affidavits for court and testify in court as necessary. Pay is $50/hr. This is for a law firm so it could lead to other working on other cases as well.
