I am looking for an architect or engineer with at least some experience testifying in court in cases involving illegal construction in New York City. You would need to get the plans from the city, look at photos, determine whether and to what extent illegal construction is being done, give sworn affidavits for court and testify in court as necessary. Pay is $50/hr. This is for a law firm so it could lead to other working on other cases as well. We are looking for someone who is (hopefully) familiar with all aspects of the drafting process from initial sketching through to shop drawings and CAM. The ideal candidate is experienced with Rhino and RhinoCam but other programs could be acceptable. An understanding of fabrication and materials would be key and a good attitude with an ability to take direction and extrapolate is a must. Experience operating a CNC would also be invaluable. This position will report directly to the Chief Estimator. Primary Responsibilities (include the following, but are not limited to): • Possess in-depth knowledge of NYC construction codes and the NYC Zoning Resolution. • Conduct code and zoning consultations, including the preparation of detailed reports and analyses. (we will provide the templates for these reports) • Prepare CCD (Construction Code Determination) and ZRD (Zoning Resolution Determination) applications for obtaining code and zoning variances. • Support project managers in devising effective filing strategies for various types of construction projects. • Provide expert guidance on the interpretation of building codes and zoning regulations during project planning and execution. • Assist in the risk assessment of projects by evaluating potential code and zoning challenges. • Develop and maintain a database of common code and zoning issues encountered in past projects to streamline future consultation processes.
