JOB SUMMARY We are a Denver-based low voltage company seeking an Electronics Systems Engineer for a full-time position. We are a small company (less than 10 people) that primarily performs detention security electronic system design, installation & maintenance for facilities in the Western US. Our projects are typically owner-direct and utilize our template systems and components for most projects. This is a “hands-on” engineering position where the candidate will assist with shop assembly and testing of the systems designed. Travel would be limited to day-trips to facilities in the front range (if required), and a typical workday will consist of working from home on designs or at our shop in Centennial assisting with assembly of systems previously designed. TASKS Provide design, value engineering, experience-based recommendations, code/standard review, document completeness, material tracking/expediting, system assembly, system testing, and installation support for projects in Jails and Prisons. Projects will encompass a variety of technology and systems, and will range in duration from a day to a few months, depending on the project size. Systems include CCTV, intercom, access control, PLC integration, SCADA/HMI, conduit install, wire pull and labeling, and possible light metal work. Individuals with limited experience in these areas but with the ability and willingness to learn new skills and accept new responsibilities are encouraged to apply. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS - High School Diploma or General Educational Development certificate (GED) is required - Proficient in AutoCAD - Related training and certifications are a plus - Must be able to pass a background check and drug test in order to enter secured facilities in which the company performs work - Valid driver license and ability to meet the company's driving requirements - Physically able to lift heavy weights of up to 75 lbs - Able to stand and walk for an entire shift to meet the varying requirements of each day’s work - Knowledge of wiring practices/procedures/installation (including fiber optic) - Ability to interpret the intent of plans, schematics, specifications, wiring diagrams, and functional block diagrams for multiple systems, even those not explicitly included in a project’s scope - Able to learn new software/hardware platforms and techniques for support when needed. - Able to learn various techniques and technical procedures. - Self-directed and able to support projects independently or with a team - Background in a mechanical or electrical vocation in which hands-on technical expertise is required - Mechanical aptitude and experience utilizing metering devices - Expresses thoughts clearly and concisely (written and verbal) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Constant and thorough communication with project management, programming, engineers, and electronics technicians - Verifies security system /equipment functionality by testing equipment, connections, and signals; identifying and correcting problems - Perform wiring and hardware troubleshooting utilizing a voltmeter and other low-voltage electrical tools and methods - Assist with shop assembly of components prior to onsite installation - Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed - Complete special projects upon requests, and other duties may be assigned - Constant and thorough communication with project management, programming, and fabrication - Perform all duties associated with designing and integrating every sub-system within the specified security systems - Compile all required submittal documentation for submission to the project architect, consultant, and owner - Oversee and complete detailed design drawings to effectively communicate the design to internal and external members of the project team - Support engineered designs through fabrication, factory testing, on-site installation, and commissioning - Oversee site start-up and testing of systems - Perform company-wide trainings on topics in which you have received formal training - Complete documents and forms for department process/procedure - Proactively discover and resolve internal and external conflicts in order to keep projects moving forward BENEFITS - Paid time off - Bonus/profit sharing pay - 401k with 4% company match - Phone allowance COMPENSATION Salary position - $65,000 to $80,000, D.O.E.
