Learn more: https://sabeydatacenters.com/locations About the role: The Director of Utility Coordination serves as a key strategic leader, driving utility engagement efforts across a dynamic and expanding portfolio of data center developments. Acting as the primary liaison between the company and utility providers, this role ensures consistent oversight of utility interactions, navigates projects through regulatory and tariff frameworks, and provides critical support to both regional teams and executive leadership. With a focus on operational excellence and strategic influence, the Director owns utility coordination processes end-to-end—emphasizing accountability, regulatory compliance, and strong relationship management to support timely project delivery and organizational goals. Salary Range: $141,642 -- $219,545 depending on experience- relocation support is available. What you will be doing: Utility Coordination & Project Advancement Own and manage the end-to-end utility coordination process for all data center development projects. Serve as the primary point of contact for utility representatives across transmission and distribution providers. Track utility capacity requests, interconnection studies, load forecasts, and other milestones to ensure projects stay on schedule. Facilitate consistent follow-ups, monitor progress, and escalate issues as needed. Policy & Tariff Expertise Develop and maintain a deep understanding of utility tariffs, interconnection requirements, planning processes, and regulatory filings. Work with internal teams and consultants to provide guidance on cost implications, timelines, and strategic decisions based on utility rules. Cross-Functional Support Collaborate with General Managers, Development teams, and the SVP of Energy Development to align utility efforts with business priorities. Support the CTO and Sr. Manager of Sustainability & Energy in long-term capacity planning and strategy sessions. Coordinate inputs for regulatory or public utility filings as needed. Tracking, Reporting, and Knowledge Management Build and manage a centralized utility engagement tracker and knowledge base. Prepare regular project status reports, risk assessments, and executive updates. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through tooling, automation (including AI), or process refinement. What You Will Bring Required: 7–12 years of experience in utility coordination, energy development, or infrastructure project management (preferably in data centers, large-scale real estate, or industrial sectors). Strong understanding of utility operations, interconnection processes, tariffs, and regulatory environments. Experience working for or with electric utilities. Preferred: Familiarity with energy procurement, distributed energy resources, or transmission planning. Engineering, planning, or legal background related to energy or utilities. The ideal candidate should be able to clearly communicate within teams with several technical and specialty disciplines. Work Responsibilities ● The BIM & VDC Coordination Engineer is expected to provide coordination skills in support of the creation of detailed and accurate BIM models. ● This position will set the course for the digital delivery, coordination and collaboration of project teams within a large and fast-moving project. This includes working with peers, consultants, discipline leads and executive management through the numerous efforts within the master project(s). ● Introduce, support, and oversee the implementation of industry leading BIM technology. ● The ideal candidate will be responsible for proper setup, maintenance and review of design efforts.
