It has THE absolutely fantastic V8 Volvo / Yamaha engine, that is a joy to drive and has the same fuel economy of the smaller engines. My mechanic drives a 2008 with 260k. I have seen them with as many as 380,000 miles. I've owned and sold hundreds of Volvos. I was excited to keep this one form myself as a tow vehicle. However I would be forced to buy a commercial insurance policy, that is outrageously expensive. . This XC90 spent many years in Florida. I have never found rust/ rot to be a issue with Volvo ( unibody). Exceptionally clean, Top of line Michelin tires with plenty of life left.
