Bicycle Mechanic - Downtown Berkeley - No Weekends If you enjoy working with people, are a skilled bicycle mechanic, and get excited about supporting the growing community of bicycle commuters in the Bay Area, then this might be a good opportunity for you. BikeHub is a small, Bay-Area-based company, focused on supporting bicycle commuters and anyone who uses bikes as transportation. Our Berkeley Bike Station is a project by BART and the city to provide free, secure public bicycle parking. BikeHub’s repair business and retail sales help offset operating costs. We're hiring one full-time mechanic at our Berkeley Bike Station in Downtown Berkeley. The shifts will be Monday through Friday - the store is open from 7:00am - 7:00pm. No weekend work. We'd like to start someone as soon as possible. The pay range for this position is $21.12 - $26.78 per hour with regular COLA increases every January. Relevant bike mechanic experience will help determine the starting pay. The Bicycle Mechanic assists with bike parking, and takes in repairs during commute rush periods. During the remainder of the shift, the mechanic should be confident tuning or conducting repairs on a wide variety of bikes, including e-bikes. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Work under the guidance of the Station Manager Assess and intake repairs on customer bikes Perform all levels of bicycle repairs on a variety of bikes Assist customers purchasing new bicycles, bike parts and accessories Open or close the shop as required Park and retrieve bicycles Maintain a clean and positive work environment Adhere to all BikeHub protocols and procedures Qualifications: Professional bike mechanic experience (at least 1 year / professional certifications are a plus) Punctuality, positive attitude, customer service skills Ability to lift up to 35lbs; bend, stoop and stand for long periods of time Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with coworkers Basic computer literacy: Operate a digital POS Underrepresented groups in the bicycle industry are encouraged to apply When you apply, please include a short cover letter with a few sentences explaining your interest in this job.
