My uncle helped build the Dalton Highway that parallels the Trans-Alaska pipeline. He brought home a "chunk" of oil pipe that was torch-cut into the shape of Alaska. (The attached picture is not his piece but is essentially the same thing.) When Uncle Mark -- a veteran of post-WWII Germany service-- died in the late 1990's, the "chunk" vanished; the family belief is that it was sold by a family member for quick cash, possibly for drugs. I don't care how it disappeared, who has it, or how it comes back to us. I inherited all of Uncle Mark's possessions after the death of my Aunt Dort, who'd held them for decades. (It was only then that I learned "Alaska" was missing.) I want to rejoin "Alaska" with Uncle Mark's pictures of Germany and Alaska; with his medals and uniforms; and with his decades of letters from friends and family. I'm willing to pay a reward, but I am on Social Security Disability Income, so I don't have much to spare. Please, if you or someone you know has it, send me an email (through Craigslist, which guarantees your privacy), and let's talk.
