These PIC-based devices and systems will revolutionize the industry by replacing the large and expensive lab-quality laser systems, precise frequency control, and atom-addressing methods currently used in quantum systems. To meet this vital requirement, we are expanding our integrated photonics team and seeking experienced engineers with hands-on skills in designing and testing Silicon Photonics PIC-based lasers and laser system components. We seek an exceptional candidate with extensive experience in integrated photonics technologies, devices, and applications. This individual will play a crucial role as a founding member in the integrated photonics team at Infleqtion. The integrated photonics team will work directly with each quantum systems team to identify PIC opportunities and develop PIC based devices for use in prototype quantum systems. Additionally, the team will collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to provide qualified PIC based devices for Infleqtion products. Job description: The Integrated Photonics Staff Engineer will play a major role in establishing the integrated photonics team at Infleqtion. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, some covered by other team members: Collaborate with Quantum Systems teams on Integrated Photonics opportunities Design photonic components (lasers, modulators, passive devices, etc.) Design and layout Silicon Photonics PICs Work with foundry partners for PIC fabrication Collaborate with III-V Gain Chip suppliers for gain elements Partner with packaging companies to integrate gain and package devices Conduct lab testing of PIC based devices, including hands-on and automated testing Characterize lasers, including DC measurements, frequency noise (FN) and relative intensity noise (RIN) Characterize modulated laser systems, measuring high-speed waveforms, and developing measurement setups Evaluate micro-combs and PIC-based devices for miniature frequency combs Assess PIC-based approaches for addressing atoms in quantum systems Requirements PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics is preferred, with 5+ years’ experience developing PIC based devices for relevant systems (quantum, telecom, etc.). Candidates with different levels of experience will be considered for positions that match their qualifications. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sr. Protection and Control Testing Engineer, P&C Technologist/Specialist/Tech to join our field services team on a full time basis, initial work sites will be based around the Denver, CO area. Responsibilities: Testing and commissioning of MV/HV power system protection & control schemes in the utility, power generation, and oil & gas industry. Read and interpret drawings and troubleshoot / resolve technical issues. Train/develop employees to ensure highest performance standards are met. Report preparation and submission. Assist with generation of commissioning startup procedures or work instructions. Ensure compliance with all safety practices as per corporate, client, and industry standards. Initiate and/or respond to customer inquiries, discuss trouble details and confirm resolutions. Qualifications: The successful candidate should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Electrician Journeyman Ticket, or an Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma from a recognized institute. Comprehensive understanding of key principles of electrical power system protection and controls including SCADA, relay protection, metering, equipment functionals, and telecom networks. Minimum 5+ years of proven experience in the medium voltage and/or high voltage utility substations and power generation industry with experience in a supervisory role leading and running projects in greenfield and brownfield substations. Relay testing of microprocessor-based protection IED’s (SEL, ABB, Siemens, GE, etc.) with fully automated test equipment (Omicron CMC356) and test data management. Experienced in high voltage primary equipment testing and commissioning involving power transformers, reactors, circuit breakers, CT’s, PT’s, surge arrestors, disconnect switches, cap and reactor Banks, etc. Testing and commissioning as per NETA/IEEE/IEC standards. Strong understanding of safety standards. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an extreme attention to detail are essential. Knowledge of the Microsoft office software suite of programs coupled with strong computer skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a wide variety of issues simultaneously. Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem solving skills. NETA Testing Certification an asset. Background checks and Drug and Alcohol Pre-Access Testing will be required as part of employment. Requirements: Must be legally able to work in the United States, VISA Sponsorship is not available for this position. Valid driver’s license with clean driving record. POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer with deep expertise in hardware-level design and embedded architecture to join our cross-functional engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of FPGA and embedded software solutions that are central to our quantum sensing systems. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience in embedded systems engineering, is proficient in both Verilog and VHDL, and has a strong background working with Xilinx SoMs and SoCs in Linux-based development environments. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities outlined below include essential functions of the role. Depending on business needs, this role may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties. Architect, develop, and maintain HDL code (Verilog and VHDL) for Xilinx System-on-Modules (SoMs) and Systems-on-Chip (SoCs), including Zynq, Kria, and Ultrascale+ platforms. Design embedded control systems and digital interfaces, optimizing for low-latency and high-throughput performance. Debug and integrate embedded systems in Linux environments, utilizing command-line tools and kernel-level interfaces where necessary. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, optical scientists, and software developers to deliver integrated product solutions. Conduct board bring-up, hardware verification, and real-time system debugging with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab tools. Drive the development and refinement of embedded firmware/software frameworks and reusable HDL IP cores. Contribute to system-level architectural decisions and participate in design reviews to ensure scalable, robust, and maintainable designs. Develop automated test benches for simulation and verification of digital logic designs. Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines using Vivado (simulation, synthesis, bitstream generation), and verification frameworks like UVM or CocoTB. Maintain documentation of designs, workflows, and processes in compliance with internal and regulatory standards. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Minimum of 10 years of industry experience in embedded systems and digital hardware design. Proven experience developing FPGA firmware using both Verilog and VHDL. Deep familiarity with Xilinx development tools (Vivado, Vitis, etc.) and Xilinx devices (Zynq SoCs, Ultrascale). Strong background in developing and debugging embedded Linux environments. Solid understanding of digital design principles, timing closure, and high-speed interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, Ethernet). Demonstrated experience in architecting embedded control systems and integrating them into hardware platforms. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and bare-metal development. Exposure to Rust or C/C++ for embedded development. Experience implementing DSP algorithms using Xilinx IP blocks and HDL (VHDL/Verilog) on FPGAs for applications such as RF synthesis, filtering, or optical control is a strong plus. Prior experience in regulated environments or defense/aerospace applications.
