$1,050 Room for Rent with Utilities Included (Crown Heights/ Prospect Heights)

address194 Sterling St, Brooklyn, NY 11225, USA

Description

Hello people! My name is Mari, my roommate and I are seeking a third roommate to share our awesome space. Information on the apartment and the room for rent: The apartment is in actuality the entire first floor of a house and is located on the border of Prospect Heights and Crown Heights. It is a five-minute walk to the Franklin Avenue/ Eastern Parkway Subway Station (2, 3, 4, 5). The apartment is actually a two story house, we live on the first floor. The first floor is not a “ground floor”, it is elevated. The front of the house has a small stoop with a couple of steps leading up to it. This is a three-bedroom apartment and I am seeking one roommate. The room measures 8.5 ft wide and 14 ft long and has one window. Furnished with a brand new full size mattress, gel topper, and bed frame. It is also furnished with a small bedside table, mirror, desk, lamp, chair, an ikea cubby/open shelving unit meant as a substitute for a chest of drawers, and an air conditioner (that can be removed for the winter). The room has southern facing windows, which means loads of sunlight. The room available is the smallest of the three rooms and the rent is slightly less than the other two rooms. Ceilings are around nine feet tall. Room cannot come unfurnished. The rent is $1,050 per month, with a six-month minimum commitment. Move in date can be October 15th, November 1st, or November 15th. I am looking for a roommate that can commit to staying through the winter. There is an option of renewing, which can be discussed for those that come to see the apartment. What is included in the rent: •Utilities: internet (verizon), electricity, heat, gas. •Shared household goods: cleaning products, paper towel, toilet paper. • Shared Stocked Kitchen: Cookware, Stand Mixer and attachments, Blender, Food Processors, Conventional Oven, Microwave, etc. •Two refrigerators: you share your refrigerator with only one roomie. •Dedicated pantry space for your dry food/ personal kitchen items. •Dedicated bathroom shelving. • Furnished living room/common room. Highlights: •Loads of Storage. •No pests (truly). We have an exterminator; the company continues to confirm that we have no mice or other pests! •Bathroom has a separate shower and a separate bathtub. •Common Rooms are fully furnished: Living room has two comfy couches, side tables, and an air conditioner. •Two to three block distance to everything: pharmacy, grocery, 24 hr laundromat, deli, etc. Quirks: •Clothing closets are located in the hallway rather than inside the room. However, there are free-standing clothing racks in each room. Up to you whether you want the extra clothing rack or the extra space. •The grout in the bathroom is old and the tiles are mismatched (in the process of painting the tiles white when I can scrounge up free time). Cons: •This is an older house, which means that there are things that we have a "workaround" for. For those that come to view the space, I will go over every known quirk so that you can make an informed decision. I think the pros outweigh the cons, and have enjoyed living here for over six years. Who I am: Mari (mid-thirties), legal professional working at an asset management firm, work from home twice a week. When not working, I’m studying for the LSAT, and heading to plays before they close on Broadway. Loretta (mid-thirties), architect and avid rock climber. She works from home two to three times a week and has an artistic side hustle. Who we're looking for: •Respect our Neighbors - The owner of the apartment lives on the second floor. •You enjoy partaking in the occasional mixed drink or glass of wine. •You don't bring the party home. FAQ's: • No pets (owner's rules). • Yes to hybrid working schedules, but please note there is no guarantee the internet will work to your standards. It really depends on what kind of work you do; thus far it has worked for everyone except coders. • I've lived here for over six years and have had long term and short term roommates. • The room for rent is furnished with the basics. Please note that the room for rent cannot come "unfurnished." • The common rooms of the apartment are fully furnished. The kitchen has almost every known appliance, all of which are communal. • The apartment, which is actually the first floor of a house, is elevated and is not on the “ground floor.” The house has a small stoop with a couple of steps leading up to it. • We have an exterminator; the company sprays the entire floor every quarter as a preventative measure. The company continues to confirm that we have no mice or other pests :) If you’re interested: • Please send a description of who you are, job/career, social network(s), hobbies, and what date and time you would like to see the apartment. Please include questions you may have of the information provided above. • If you are chosen, you will have to provide the first month rent and one month security. The total is $2,100. Kindly note that this amount will be due prior to moving in. • The room is available for a minimum commitment of six months, with the option of being longer. I am looking for a roommate that can commit to staying through the winter. There is an option of renewing, which can be discussed for those that come to see the apartment. Look forward to hearing from you and happy hunting! Kind Regards, Mari If you are unfamiliar with the area, please see below for restaurants, bars and venues that are nearby.
