We seek an experienced crew lead to join our team, either full-time (40 hrs) or part-time (minimum 3 days/ week). Our schedule is from 8-4, Monday through Friday (no weekends). This is a year-round position. The right candidate will have proficiency in all aspects of garden care: correct pruning, mulching, and planting techniques, western Washington weed and plant identification, and more. We seek someone with a depth of horticultural knowledge that surpasses the typical “mow and blow” landscaping operation. We will work with the right person to train them in our standards and systems before placing them in leadership. Specifically, we need someone who knows ornamental and native landscape plants and how to care for them. If you have worked in a mow & blow operation or landscape construction, this is a different skill set. This position includes ample training to become accustomed to the way we do things and to smooth your transition into leadership. We'd love to welcome you to the team! Job Description: - Manage crews of 1-3 gardeners, overseeing the workflow and quality of work on jobsites - Ensure that safety standards are being followed at all times - Work alongside crew members and check & correct their work as needed. Train and mentor them for skill development & future leadership roles - Communicate daily with clients and managers - Take detailed and accurate notes of each client visit: arrival and departure times, tasks accomplished, etc. Qualifications: - Minimum 2 years in professional landscaping with a horticulture focus - Experience officially leading others on a professional garden crew - Excellent plant ID and pruning skills - Strong communication, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills - Strong recordkeeping, organizational and time management skills - Ability to lift 50+ lbs and enjoy working outdoors in all weather - A valid WA driver license and a clean driving record - Have a reliable vehicle for transportation to jobsites, and a smartphone for accessing our calendar and other tools Note: we will give preference to folks located in Seattle and the immediately surrounding areas, so that your commute is reasonably predictable and you are able to be on time. Pay: Pay is $26-30 depending upon experience and level of assessed knowledge. Raises are yearly from your date of hire.
