Portland Pet Food Company is now accepting applications for Machine Operator and Packaging Associates at our SE wholesale production facility in Portland, Oregon. Our team works closely with our bakers and shipping departments to ensure we are packaging a high-quality product that will be loved by dogs everywhere. We need a dedicated machine operator and packaging associate who is extremely reliable and precise. We are a team-oriented business and are growing rapidly. Job Description: This position supports the entire PPFC Operations Department by primarily packaging and casing our dog treats. To ensure overall success, the production associates will occasionally assist bakery staff. Training will be provided for all tasks assigned and equipment used. Rate of Pay: $19.50 per hour Full-time benefits include Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance, 8 Paid Holidays, Paid Time Off provided after training period, Employee Assistance Program, Employee Referral Program, and Educational Assistance Program offered. Schedule: 24- 40 hours weekly, 3 – 5 days including weekends, 7:00am – 3:30pm or 11:00am to 7:30pm Duties and Responsibilities • Operate automatic filling machine to bag dog treats • Perform preventive maintenance and daily sanitation procedures to ensure food safety • Complete metal detection program in compliance with established operating procedures • Participate in routine packaging operations outside of the bagging area Experience and Attributes: • Education & Training o Multnomah County Food Handler’s certificate required within 30 days of hire •Professional Experience o Automatic filling machine operation o General understanding of mechanics and pneumatic equipment o Warehouse equipment: pallet jack, pallet stacker o Understanding of food manufacturing, food safety, lot coding, and FIFO inventory • Personal Experience and Work Ethic o Flexible in daily tasks and adaptable to growth and change o Reliable attendance o Desire to maximize workflow, achieve goals, and follow standards o Attention to detail that prevents errors Physical Requirements •Stand and walk continuously during an 8-hour shift •Ability to regularly lift 40 pounds • Frequent stooping, bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, reaching, and lifting • Operation of basic warehouse equipment, including an electric pallet jack (training provided)
