Family Paths’ Parenting Stress Helpline offers free, confidential phone support, case management, and referrals to parents, caregivers, and service providers in Alameda County. Our volunteers bring diverse life experiences and provide meaningful peer support—no counseling or parenting experience needed. Volunteering with us means joining a mission-driven, social justice–focused team committed to uplifting families with compassion and respect. We strongly encourage applicants who speak additional languages and reflect the communities we serve. We're looking for individuals who are: * Empathetic and nonjudgmental * Curious and compassionate * Committed to supporting families * Open to learning and personal growth This Opportunity is Great For: * Parents and caregivers who want to support others in similar situations * Students in counseling, social work, psychology, or other human service fields seeking hands-on experience * Anyone looking to make a real, positive impact on the lives of families in their community To be considered for the Helpline, volunteers must: * Attend all in-person Pre-Service Trainings * Complete self-paced online training modules * Participate in 2–3 observation shifts (2 hours each, between Sept 12–Oct 3) Pre-Service Training Dates (In-Person – Oakland Office 1727 MLK JR WAY) * Friday, Sept 12 – 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM * Saturday, Sept 13 – 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM * Saturday, Sept 27 – 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM * Friday, Oct 3 – 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM * Saturday, Oct 4 – 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Volunteers must be comfortable using a computer and have proficient digital skills, as the Helpline uses an electronic health records system.
