Job Title: Assistant General Manager Location: San Jose, CA (On-site) Company: FFR Fabrication & Repair Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: $80,000–$95,000/year + performance based quarterly bonuses ($5,000–$10,000 annual potential) Reports To: General Manager About FFR Fabrication & Repair FFR is a premier automotive restoration and customization shop specializing in high end builds, classic restorations, and performance focused upgrades. Our team is known for exceptional craftsmanship, professionalism, and a commitment to doing things right. As we grow, we’re looking for a highly organized, proactive, and experienced Assistant General Manager (AGM) to help drive operational excellence and keep projects moving forward. Position Overview The Assistant General Manager works directly under the General Manager to coordinate day to day operations, manage the parts and vendor pipeline, and serve as a vital link between the office and the shop floor. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates clearly, and takes ownership of follow-through. What You’ll Do Project & Shop Operations Help manage project flow by tracking active job status, approvals, and technician needs Identify workflow issues and support timely escalation and resolution Collaborate with the Shop Foreman to ensure techs stay productive and projects stay on track Parts & Vendor Coordination Handle all parts sourcing, ordering, tracking, receiving, and returns Maintain relationships with vendors and sublet partners (powder coaters, upholstery shops, etc.) Ensure all parts are labeled, documented, and distributed properly to each project Administrative Support Collaborate with the Office Administrator to support accurate billing and record-keeping Assist with Shop-Ware maintenance: photo uploads, time audits, client approvals, and job documentation Maintain internal checklists for weekly operational health Internal Communication & Follow-Through Act as a liaison between front office and shop team Track flagged issues, notify clients promptly (with GM support), and keep all parties aligned Prepare updates or status reviews for the GM and Owner What We’re Looking For 3–5 years of experience in shop operations, project coordination, or parts/inventory management (automotive, fabrication, or industrial preferred) Strong follow-through, organization, and time management Excellent written and verbal communication skills Familiarity with project tracking tools or shop management software (e.g., Shop-Ware) Ability to multitask, delegate, and manage competing priorities calmly and professionally Leadership mindset, you look ahead, solve problems, and don’t wait to be told what to do Bonus Points For Experience in classic car restoration or high-end performance builds Previous vendor negotiation or inventory control experience Understanding of the full vehicle build process from teardown to final delivery Why You’ll Love Working Here You’ll be part of a tight knit team that values craftsmanship, clarity, and doing things right, not cutting corners You’ll have autonomy and ownership in a role that truly keeps the shop running smoothly You’ll see the direct impact of your work every day as jobs move from parts carts and estimates to completed builds Your ideas and process improvements will be welcomed, we’re always working to get better Work-Life Balance Matters We know this industry can be intense, but we don’t believe in burnout as a badge of honor.
