Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Nursery Worker to join our team long term. This is a part time position (MWF from 10am - 5pm and maybe one weekend day 10am- 6pm). The grower will be responsible for planting, caring for, and maintaining the health of our succulent and cactus inventory. The role requires someone who can handle labor work, be able to clearly communicate with customers and our team. Previous experience with plants is preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual. Key Responsibilities: • Plant Care: Carefully plant succulents, cacti, and other plants, ensuring roots are not damaged during the process. • Watering & Maintenance: Water plants according to the established schedule and ensure proper care for all plants under your responsibility. • Pest Control: Apply pesticides as needed, following safety protocols, to protect the plants from pests and diseases. • Propagation: Propagate succulents and cacti, either by cutting or growing from seed, ensuring strong and healthy new plants. • Team Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to meet nursery goals. • Clear Communication: Follow and provide clear instructions to team members and management, ensuring smooth operations. • Plant Knowledge: Learn about various plant categories, their specific needs, and names, becoming familiar with the requirements of different plant species. • Independent Work: Be able to work independently, taking initiative and demonstrating a strong work ethic to produce high-quality plants. • Physical Requirements: Lift at least 55 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and moving very heavy plants/soil/sand. • Special Projects: Perform additional tasks such as cutting and pulling weeds, bagging soil, and other special projects as needed. Additional Requirements: • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. • Must be self-motivated and proactive in the care and growth of the plants. • Must demonstrate a commitment to producing healthy, thriving plants.
