Position: Facilities Custodian, Part Time Location: Brooklyn, NY (East New York Ave.) Schedule: Monday & Tuesday; 8am - 4pm Salary: $18.00/hr. Duties and Responsibilities: - Clean offices, hallways, stairs, lobby, lounge area, exercise room, conference room and all other common areas - Dust all office furniture, windowsills, countertops, etc. - Empty office, bathroom, lounge, exercise room, conference room and all other common area wastebaskets - Clean bathroom fixtures, counters, mirrors, and mop floors - Assure adequate supplies are in bathrooms - Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them - Maintain adequate stock of all custodial supplies, ordering additional as needed - Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners - Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs - Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals - Maintaining the cleanliness of the exterior of the building including removing debris from the property, sweeping patios and walkways as needed - Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, and ladders to prepare facility for events such as banquets and meetings - Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation as allowed by law and with proper protection - Dust, clean and maintain exercise equipment - Minor maintenance repairs as needed including changing light bulbs, filters etc. - Wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment at all times - Cleaning of individual apartments: kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, dusting of blinds, emptying trash baskets - Remain current with all Agency required compliance documents and trainings. Major periodic cleaning: - Wash inside and outside of all windows, as assigned - Wash off marks on walls and doors - Dust door ledges and floor boards - Dust chair/furniture legs - Scrub bathroom floor, walls, and fixtures - Clean and/or shampoo carpeting and upholstery - Coordinate moving or set up of furniture to individual units - May be required to assist with the clean up of areas damaged by residents Requirements: High School Diploma (preferred) plus 6 months or more related experience (preferred). Must have a valid drivers license. Good communication and interpersonal skills a must, as well as good client/customer service skills, ability to follow oral and written instructions, prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively with a team. Basic knowledge of cleaning products is required. The work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds. Maintenance positions involve significant direct contact with residents of Agency owned communities. This position will work onsite with our Permanent Supportive Housing department and mainly serve our Bridges on Broadway property, although they may be asked to perform duties at The Commons on MLK or The Keystone as well. The Commons on MLK is a partnership between Lane County, Homes for Good, ShelterCare and Quantum Residential focused on providing permanent housing to 51 chronically homeless individuals who are part of the Frequent User System Engagement (FUSE) program for high service users. The Keystone is a 15-unit permanent supportive housing project for chronically homeless families with children. This project was funded through special PSH funds from OHCS and OHA with services provided by ShelterCare and property management by Quantum Residential. Bridges on Broadway is a partnership with Lane County and Oregon Housing and Community Services focused on providing permanent housing to 56 chronically homeless individuals referred through Coordinated Entry. This project is under construction and will open in 2025. The Commons on MLK and Bridges on Broadway are staffed 24 hours a day with services staff on-site from 8am-6pm. DUTIES: Perform routine maintenance work in vacant and occupied units. Perform routine custodial and grounds work using handheld tools and equipment. Demonstrate knowledge of and alignment with Trauma Informed Care using a variety of therapeutic approaches, including but not limited to, Collaborative Problem Solving, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic, and Integrative. Show competency in utilizing the concepts/approaches in interactions with young adults, families, staff, and community partners. Actively supervise and interact with young adults both in the community and within the therapeutic milieu to maintain safety and provide in the moment psychiatric and mental health services. Demonstrate knowledge of young adults’ development, anticipated differences in development based on diagnosis and history, and group dynamics by adjusting therapeutic approaches for appropriate developmental level for group interactions to allow full group engagement. Provide transportation of young adults, or assistance with transportation, including independent forms of transportation such as navigating public transportation, for appointments and activities. Provide individual and group skills training and coaching within skill areas including, but not limited to, independent living/self-sufficiency, exercise, healthy eating, wellness, education, continuing education, coping skills, navigating the medical community, establishing services, and community living. Provide modeling and lived experience examples to assist youth in problem solving issues related to independent living skills such as obtaining employment, finding housing, navigating interactions with financial institutions, establishing services with utilities, establishing services with medical providers, and basic home inventory and care. Safely de-escalate young adults, including in crisis situations, by effectively using verbal intervention skills. Concisely and thoroughly document daily clinical information. Provide timely accurate documentation to meet billing requirements.  Must adhere to Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) and standards of care. Consistently meet program billing requirements. Abide by ethical codes, mission, values, and professional standards, including confidentiality. Actively utilize, reference, and follow agency policies, procedures, and guidelines. Present a positive attitude, professional demeanor and demonstrated respect with young adults, families, staff, visitors, and community partners. Perform all work tasks in a proper and safe manner per established policies, procedures, and guidelines to prevent unnecessary injury, time loss and agency expense.
