JOB SUMMARY Facilitate the processing of Medical applications and renewals working closely with the Social Services Department.  Reports to Revenue Manager.  Research for any opportunity to increase revenue from eligible medical benefits. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Facilitate MediCal applications, redeterminations, and MediCal County transfers, and renewals working closely with the Social Services Department. Create a database/working file to monitor residents for MediCal applications and renewals. Complete 100% of required MediCal redeterminations and County transfers within designated deadlines. Maintain and update resident MediCal status database with 100% accuracy on a rolling basis. TAR preparation and submission.  Ensure all the required information and supporting documentation are completed. Submit TARs within 24–48 hours of receiving all necessary documentation. Ensure 100% compliance with required supporting documentation. Stay current with regulatory changes and research opportunities for additional revenue from medical benefits. Conduct regulatory updates review monthly and provide summaries to leadership. Ensure Medicare/Insurance eligibility for Short-Term Medicare/HMO residents upon admission. Verify Medicare/HMO eligibility for 100% of short-term residents within 24–48 hours of admission. Maintain accurate insurance records with a 100% compliance rate for audits. Ensure MediCal eligibility for Long-Term residents monthly. Conduct eligibility checks for 100% of long-term residents monthly and resolve issues within 5 business days. Stay informed with regulatory changes and share/train other employees when appropriate. Provide training or informational updates on MediCal application changes at least once per quarter to relevant staff. Serve as a liaison between Accounting and Health Care Departments Respond to inquiries from Accounting and Health Care Departments within 24–48 hours. Ensure smooth communication and problem resolution with minimal rework required. Assist during MediCal audit. Ensure all required audit documentation is prepared and submitted by audit deadlines. Maintain zero major compliance findings due to incomplete or incorrect information. Adhere to and complies with security, safety, and health standards in the workplace. Perform other duties as requested or required. Complete ad-hoc requests within agreed-upon timelines while maintaining core productivity levels. SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE Advance in Microsoft Excel (Vlookup,Xlookup,IFs), use of word processing (Microsoft Word) Minimum two years of medical billing, cost reimbursement or third-party payment experience, preferably with some exposure to other accounting related functions, including A/R, A/P, and G/L. Computer skills including spreadsheet preparation, CMS database navigation and HealthCare software programs like MatrixCare. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Experience with third-party medical providers contracts required. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines. Must be extremely well-organized and detail oriented. Individual’s ages range from 18-65 and their needs vary from high functioning, fairly independent Individuals to those who have total physical care needs or behavior support needs. Most Individuals participate in a school or day program during the day, although Family Home Providers are still responsible for being available during the day if needed. You will receive support from Enriching Lives to assist you in providing services in your own home such as initial and continuing education, the support of a multidisciplinary team, 24 hour on call professional support, and overnight relief support. Enriching Lives staff will visit you and the Individual regularly to provide support and ensure that the Individual’s goals are being met. At a minimum, you must have 1-2 spare bedrooms, a safe and pleasant living environment, reliable transportation, a high school diploma or GED and a designated backup Family Home Provider. All adult members of the household and frequent visitors to the home must have a clear criminal history and a DMV record without any major violations. Thank you for your interest in taking care of my sweet 95-year-old mother! Here is a bit of a description of her: She is sweet and lovely to be around. But unfortunately, she is quite demented, and mostly deaf. She is not talking so much anymore, but she smiles when she is happy. She has a very fragile body, and her mobility is getting less and less as each month passes. She is still walking with a walker, but barely, yet if she stays in the wheelchair all day, she will become weaker and weaker. She is a huge fall risk, and if indeed she does fall, it could very easily be the end of life for her. We do not have a Hoyer lift in the house, because there is not enough room for one. She is mostly incontinent but also is able to use the toilet. She mostly needs to be fed but occasionally is able to eat by herself. She is mostly dependent on adults to do most things for her. Here is what we are looking for. I know all of you who are reading this are caring individuals, but because of my mother’s extreme fragility, I can only consider people with the following qualifications: 1. You absolutely MUST have a good deal of experience working with very old fragile women. 2. You absolutely MUST have a good deal of experience working with transfers from bed/walker/ toilet/lift/ wheelchair. 3. You absolutely MUST have experience and strength in doing body lifts, in moments when my mother has forgotten how to stand and/or gets frightened by this. 4.You absolutely MUST have experience in changing clients in bed, because more and more she is needing this when she is not able to walk. 5. This might sound ageist, but please do not apply if you are older (ie over 65) and your body is rather vulnerable. And please don’t apply if you are very young and you cannot connect with the pace of an older person. 6. You absolutely MUST have experience in toileting, and also making sure my mother doesn’t fall while you are cleaning her up as she stands over the toilet. (See note above.) 7. Please have experience in cooking meals and in slowly feeding an elderly person who might choke if you feed her too fast. 8. Please be extremely responsible and come on time to shifts. 9. Please be in good health and fit. We expect that caregivers will not bring contagious viruses into the home. When my mother gets a cold/flu or any other viruses, it takes her 6-8 weeks to get over it, because her COPD flares up, and she often has to go to the hospital and/or deal with serious health ramifications. 10. Please be kind and gentle and relate well to my mother. The job position is part-time, and is on an as needed basis, providing substitution for our existing caregivers when they are away. The average work time per week could be from 5- 20 hours a week, depending on the need. Our existing shifts are from 9am to 2pm, 2pm to 7pm, though mostly we need someone for the 9am to 2pm shift. Possibly this position might turn into a regular shift. We pay $30 an hour.
