Medical Biller / Coding Specialist Location: Oakland, CA Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Salary: $55,000 – $65,000 annually, depending on experience Position Summary: We are hiring Medical Billers and Coding Specialists to support a busy healthcare practice in Oakland, CA. This role is responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, preparing and submitting claims, and ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance payers. Key Responsibilities: Review medical records to assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes Prepare, submit, and follow up on insurance claims to ensure prompt payment Resolve claim denials and discrepancies by communicating with payers and providers Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations when required Maintain detailed billing records and ensure compliance with HIPAA and payer guidelines Assist with patient billing questions and support front office staff as needed Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in health administration or related field preferred Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or similar credential strongly preferred At least 1 year of medical billing and coding experience in a healthcare setting Familiarity with EHR systems and billing software Strong attention to detail and understanding of insurance guidelines Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Benefits Competitive salary ranging from $55,000 to $65,000, based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and paid holidays Retirement plan with employer match Opportunities for continuing education and certification support Stable work environment with a supportive team Apply today!
