Skills and Experiences You’ll Need as a Recycling Technician 1: Requires high school education or equivalent. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered. Related work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Requires an initial 24 hours of training in RCRA hazardous waste operations, OSHA and RCRA emergency response training. Ability to understand and apply detailed written and oral instructions, documents, and procedure manuals.  Ability to identify the hazardous materials for the work area, their proper safe usage, and the health hazards of applicable substances. Ability to use a computer. Certified forklift operator, or able to obtain certification. Work Environment for a Recycling Technician 1: Work takes place in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and chemicals. Ability to use PPE. Ability to stand or sit for long periods; Good manual dexterity, fine motor skills, visual acuity, and ability to use full range of motion. Perform fabrication, assembly, and packaging operations. Principal Responsibilities Fabricate fittings to customer specifications using customized fabricating equipment, hand, power tools, adhesives, and fixtures. Obtain components from stock/production. Set-up equipment to match product requirements. Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment and demonstrate good communication skills. Inspect completed parts. Prepare parts for shipping by placing them in boxes or on pallets. Correctly label all parts and boxes as needed. Visually inspect all incoming pipes, components, and gaskets for defects. Apply 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles. Maintains a safe working environment by following Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and attending training that is provided where required. Maintains a respectful working environment by following Human Resource Policies and attending mandatory training when required. Assist in the coordination, preparation, and execution of year-end inventory.
