Urgent! Rescue/foster/adopt(behavior waiver may be option) please read details below!! UPDATE (9/8/25): ZERO rescue interest in either of these boys! They need assistance badly! Message from shelter asking for rescue: "Rescue needed for both of these little boys! Pumpernickel is the tan and black 4 month old , 21 lb. puppy. He was found with two siblings in Royal Oaks. He was noted to be fighting over food with his sibs and that means he flunked his behavior evaluation. I had him in the office and the yard with other dogs and handed out treats, which he was very good about. In my house, treat/food time is highly regulated and there is just no “leftovers” remaining afterward to fight over. It’s pretty simple but it does mean that someone needs to understand the concept and make it happen. In time, it’s likely that this wouldn’t even be a problem for Pumpernickel. He just needs someone to give him a chance! He’s a super sweet boy who adores affection. He is not yet used to walking on a leash. Buck is a three year old 11 lb chihuahua-Italian greyhound mix (pure guess here). He was found in East Salinas; a merchant actually kept him in their store until animal control could pick him up. He was very friendly until his ride in the ACO truck and his intake at the shelter; he got very scared and self-protective and was labeled “aggressive.” Several weeks have passed now and Buck is proving himself to be a happy, jovial boy! He’s happy for attention, in fact, he can’t get enough! He’s very athletic and can run and jump like you wouldn’t believe. He’d be great for someone who likes to do agility training. Both of these boys are ready to leave the past in the past and move on. Can your rescue group help them do that? These two are dogs that I would have zero qualms over fostering myself, if I wasn’t already overfull." Transfer to rescue partner(s) sought.
