Description

Cloacina is hiring a Product Design Engineer with a strong technical product development background to join our energetic and dedicated team of engineers and designers in our product management and development team. As a Product Design Engineer, you would help design and implement our membrane bioreactor package treatment systems. Work would include perfecting our standard products and processes, as well as brainstorming and developing new and improved systems to meet industry needs. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, other engineering disciplines are acceptable with relevant experience. Previous experience in the wastewater/water treatment industry is also preferred, but not required. Previous experience in designing mechanical systems (pumps, piping systems, aeration systems) is also preferred, but not required. The ideal candidate is passionate about the environment and improving community water resources, has a background or interest in wastewater treatment, mechanical design, fabrication and welding, is curious and solution-oriented, dependable, and self-motivated. Duties/Responsibilities: • Design systems to safely, efficiently, and effectively treat wastewater, remove harmful substances, and return water to the ecosystem; creates municipal and industrial treatment plants for water and wastewater. • Take inputs from multiple disciplines and evaluate and implement design parameters for the systems • Select equipment to meet design parameters • Evaluate existing equipment and emerging technologies to keep system design at the forefront of the industry • Coordinate with mechanical design team to design the system and generate standard drawings. • Standardize design and generate template documentation to support products • Support a multi-discipline team on technical questions related to the product • Conducts market analysis to determine worthwhile products to develop. • Experience with PLM (product lifecycle management) and version control • Experience with operational logic control (control narratives) a plus • Knowledge of statistical methods and reliability engineering a plus • Maintains knowledge and subject matter expertise. • Detail orientated person who is able to work independently • Performs other related duties as assigned. Hybrid employee with flexible scheduling considered. Minimum 40% in-office availability. Fully remote is not an option for this role at this time. This is a full-time position with benefits. Employees may come in contact with wastewater which contains human waste. Wastewater contains various bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can cause diseases in humans and animals. Workers can be exposed through contact with wastewater, aerosols containing pathogens, or contaminated equipment. Wastewater treatment processes also involve the use of various chemicals, some of which can be toxic or corrosive. It is imperative that employees wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols. While not mandatory, it is also highly recommended that employees stay current with vaccinations, including Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, and Diphtheria.
