A Los Angeles area-based architectural design firm specializing in Commercial with some interesting Residential projects is looking for a talented and dedicated individual to join our team in the full-time position described below. The Architectural Project Captain will work closely with the internal and extended project team(s) to create and design construction documents. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES In general terms, this person should possess the ability to function comfortably, gain trust, confidence, and deal effectively with a wide range of individuals including consultants, contractors, and the project team. Also, s/he should have a proven ability to function in all phases of project development from schematic design through contract administration. • Assist Project Architect(s) and Project Manager(s) in developing project documents. • Advise the Project Architect(s) and/or Project Manager(s) when the drawings and specifications are complete and ready to be issued and provide status reports when necessary. • Provide input to the design and construction schedule–communicate the technical implications of design decisions. • Perform and/or provide support for any tasks required for the successful completion of the project. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES In general terms, this individual should be a graduate from an accredited five (5) year (BArch) program; have had CADD training; attained the appropriate certifications; and possess a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an Architectural environment focusing on commercial and retail buildings. Non-technical skills and abilities include the following. • Ability to function comfortably; gain trust and confidence; and deal effectively with a wide range of individuals including consultants, contractors, and the project and production teams. • Strong written language skills, strong verbal communication skills, and a working knowledge of eMail etiquette are essential. • Problem solving; able to tackle both large scale/conceptual level and detail/task level issues. • Must be organized and detail oriented; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Technical skills are listed below. • Proficient in AutoCAD 2019 (or later); a working knowledge of 3D applications, such as Trimble’s SketchUp and Autodesk’s Revit, are a plus. • Working experience with Adobe Suite applications; Acrobat (essential) and Photoshop (plus). • Working experience with Microsoft applications (2016 or later), such as Outlook, Word, and Excel, is essential. • Strong familiarity with Internet browsers, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, is essential.
