POSITION SUMMARY: The PRN Mohs Histotech will provide part-time histotechnical services specifically focused on Mohs micrographic surgery, ensuring accurate and precise quality control while working closely with dermatologists in a dynamic clinical environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare and cut frozen sections from tissue specimens utilizing Mohs surgical techniques. Process and embed tissue samples for histological evaluation and analysis. Perform staining techniques to prepare laboratory slides for the surgeon's review. Maintain accuracy and documentation for each step of the Mohs procedure. Monitor the quality control of prepared slides to ensure they meet laboratory standards. Interact positively and professionally with patients and clinical staff. Comply with all laboratory safety and regulatory practices as per CLIA standards. Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and instruments. Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain knowledge of histotechnology practices. Ensure a sterile work environment and follow protocols regarding tissue disposal and specimen handling. Perform other related duties as assigned by the laboratory supervisor or physician. Requirements EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or a related field. Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnologist (HTL) preferred. Previous experience in Mohs histotechnology is strongly preferred. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
