Interiors Division Estimator Home Office Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan Position Classification: Full-time Regular About This Opportunity As an Estimator within Rockford’s Interiors Division, you’ll play a key role in delivering successful project outcomes by accurately assessing and presenting construction costs including materials, labor, and other related expenses. Your attention to detail and financial insight will help ensure each project is both competitive and profitable. We’re looking for a collaborative, detail-driven professional with strong communication skills, proven experience in construction estimating, and a passion for contributing to a fast-growing, dynamic team. Key Responsibilities Foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion Attend project walkthroughs with the ability to gather all necessary information to be able to provide an accurate cost estimate Thoroughly examine blueprints and specifications to understand the scope of work Accurately calculate the quantities of materials required for the project, such as CFMF interior/exterior framing, drywall hanging/finishing, and acoustical treatments Determine the labor hours and costs needed for different tasks, considering the skills of the tradespeople involved Obtain quotes from suppliers and vendors for materials and equipment, ensuring competitive pricing Calculate overhead, indirect costs, profit margins, and contingency costs to arrive at a comprehensive project estimate Combining all cost elements to create a detailed and accurate estimate for the project Presenting the estimate to project team or potential contractors in a clear and professional manner Staying up to date on industry trends and pricing Requirements The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Interiors Construction Estimator Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret plans, identify potential issues, and develop accurate estimates Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials for the understanding of different construction techniques and materials used in interior projects Proficiency with industry-standard software for material takeoffs and cost calculations Attention to detail and accuracy to identify and correct errors in estimates to ensure accuracy Practical experience in construction projects can be valuable for understanding real-world costs and challenges Must possess the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks Must possess superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Must have a working knowledge of MS Office, including strong skills in Bluebeam, Excel, Word, and Outlook Benefits Rockford offers competitive compensation, 401(k) with company match, comprehensive healthcare plans, generous paid time off including, continued learning and training opportunities, on-site health and wellness activities, tuition reimbursement, flexible work schedules, and access to industry-leading technology. Type of Environment This position's work environment may expose the individual to hazards typically found on construction sites. Potential physical hazards include noise, the presence of moving vehicles, challenging atmospheric conditions, confined spaces, uneven surfaces, and elevated areas. The individual may also encounter outdoor environmental conditions (weather) where protective measures may not be feasible. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all times while outside the job trailer. Additionally, the work environment for this role may involve occasional visits to the corporate office and job site trailer, with physical demands necessitating the ability to sit for extended periods.
