As a UI/UX developer of an Agile team you will be responsible for creating intuitive, user-centered designs and developing responsive, interactive user interfaces that are maintainable, efficient and reliable as part of a dynamic and passionate team of industry-leading individuals supporting the best practices in Agile Software Development for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). You will bring creative ideas to solve complex problems, both technical and procedural at the team and portfolio levels. The ability to be adaptable and to work constructively with a technically diverse and geographically separated team will be key to the overall success. Requirements Experience working collaboratively to communicate effectively through websites and web applications that are easy for real people to use and responsive across all device viewports 5 + years’ experience in UI/UX development Professional experience with enterprise UI design tools such as Figma (preferred), or similar tools Professional experience communicating designs with stakeholders such as product owners, end users, development teams, and management Ability to understand trade-offs between designs, technical feasibility, and maintenance Proficiency in development and maintenance of web applications using React, Angular, JavaScript, browser technologies such as HTML, HTTP and CSS and JavaScript framework such as Kendo UI. Familiarity with Java and associated frameworks such as Spring/Spring boot Familiarity with our tech stack: Java 17, Spring/Spring boot, React, UI state management, ORM such as Hibernate, PostgreSQL, Amazon AWS Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment tools such as Harness, Jenkins, GitLab or Bamboo Stay current on important industry and customer trends to ensure our applications are delivering relevant solutions Collaborate effectively with stakeholders inside the company and with customer groups to drive effective solutions Use data, validation, and feedback strategies that deliver code backed by qualitative and quantities testing Experience with responsive and mobile-first development Willing to take risks and champion new ideas. Have experience developing applications, from consumer facing to internal tools Maintain a user-centered approach while respecting business needs Able to work and be effective in an agile design environment Working knowledge of and ability to assist others in the use of design tools to support process improvement (Figma, Axure, Sketch, Invision, XD, etc) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with very strong work ethics and a self-starter Preferred: Design Thinking certifications such as those offered through IDEO, Stanford, Cornell, MIT or a host of other organizations Preferred: Proven experience designing for web accessibility (Section 508 standards) Preferred: Experience with information architecture Preferred: Ability and interest in educating others on user-centered design best practices Preferred: Advanced understanding of Lean processes, and Agile principles In this role you will: Use Agile development methodologies and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers, product owners, and stakeholders Develop user interfaces that meet business requirements and user needs Lead the development of a cohesive look-and-feel and standardized user experience across applications Develop compelling, creative, and user-focused experiences and points of view that align with clients’ business objectives Collaborate with cross discipline team to create and execute experience style guides, interaction patterns, and information design standards Develop wireframes, mockups, and/or prototypes supporting design ideas and effectively communicate ideas to various stakeholders Establish standard layout and style libraries across applications Work closely with the functional team to determine feasibility of requirements and collaborate on design ideas and improvements. Ensure product quality and timeliness of work, providing advice and guidance, resolving problems to meet objectives, and providing periodic performance reports Work independently and efficiently within agile software development environment, utilizing tools and practices like JIRA, Confluence, GitLab, unit testing and harness. The After Care Program Coordinator oversees all aspects of the after-school program for students in Early Childhood through 8th grade, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment aligned with the mission of SHA. Hours are 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM, Monday–Thursday; Key Responsibilities Program Leadership & Supervision Plan, organize, and oversee daily after care activities, ensuring they are age-appropriate, inclusive, and engaging for EC–8 students.
