School Custodian (Full-Time)

📢 Job Posting: School Custodian (Full-Time) 📍 Location: Staten Island, New York 🕒 Schedule: 40 hours per week (Full-Time) 📅 Start Date: October 13, 2025 Position Overview: We are seeking a dependable and hardworking School Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning environment for our students and staff. The custodian will play an essential role in the daily operations of the school, including routine cleaning, floor maintenance, and basic building upkeep. Key Responsibilities: Perform daily cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas Carry out floor care responsibilities, including: Stripping, waxing, and buffing hard floors Deep-cleaning tile and grout Shampooing and extracting carpets as needed Ensure restrooms are sanitized and properly stocked Remove trash and recycling from all areas of the building Perform minor maintenance and repair tasks (e.g., changing light bulbs, unclogging drains) Assist with snow removal and exterior upkeep (sidewalks, entrances, playgrounds) Report safety or maintenance concerns to the school administration Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment Support setup and breakdown for school events and activities Follow all safety and health regulations, including DOE and CDC cleaning protocols Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred Prior custodial and floor care experience strongly preferred Knowledge of cleaning equipment and materials (e.g., auto scrubbers, buffers, extractors) Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform physical labor Dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently or on a team Must pass fingerprinting and background check Valid NYS driver’s license a plus FDNY Certificate of Fitness S-95 (boiler, alarm, etc.) preferred, but must be get certificate within 30 days of hire
