POSITION SUMMARY The Operations Associate cares about keeping our three offices clean and organized so that students, staff, and volunteers have great spaces to work in. The Operations Associate also takes on facilities projects to support the work of the Operations Manager. POSITION SNAPSHOT **Clean facilities **Do minor repairs **Work well with manager and staff **Full-Time (40 hours per week); variable, evenings and weekends as required MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES **Clean facilities and work areas, including furnishings, bathrooms, fixtures, walls, and floors, to ensure they meet health and safety standards and present an attractive appearance for our students, staff, and community **Maintain exterior of buildings as needed, including cleaning sidewalks and covering graffiti **Properly handle trash, recycling, and compost across the three Centers **Perform maintenance and minor repairs **Maintain inventory of tools and supplies; restock items on an ongoing basis **Load and unload deliveries; haul items between sites **Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows, and setting the alarm **Collaborate with vendors and other professionals as needed to maintain facilities **Report items needing attention or repair to the Operations Manager **Communicate with the Operations Manager on a daily basis about priorities and progress Other Responsibilities **Work with supervisor to complete tasks on time **Maintain accurate timesheets **All other tasks as assigned by Operations Manager, Associate Director, and Executive Director REQUIREMENTS: **Previous custodial experience (preferred) **Able to complete a background check and Tuberculosis screening; pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records **Ability to read technical manuals and drawings (preferred) **Experience using electrical and hand tools (preferred) **Ability to handle physical requirements WORKING CONDITIONS & TRAVEL The role necessarily involves moving and unpacking boxes, transporting items between Centers and to events, climbing a 6’+ ladder to access inventory, and related activities. Items can weigh anywhere from 20 to 60 lb. This is a unique opportunity for the right person who enjoys both hands-on vehicle repair and direct customer interaction through writing repair orders and managing the service process. You’ll not only be the lead technician performing diagnostics and repairs, but also the service writer ensuring all repairs are properly documented, communicated, and completed to OEM-certified standards. We’re looking for someone with strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and above all, a positive attitude and team-oriented mindset to help us build a supportive and professional shop culture. In this role, you will also work closely with the shop owner to help grow and shape the business, making your input and initiative a vital part of our long-term success. Service Writer / Advisor Duties: -Write and manage accurate repair orders based on customer concerns, inspections, and diagnostics. -Communicate clearly with customers throughout the repair process, explaining needed services and updates. -Document parts, labor, and findings to meet warranty and OEM certification requirements. -Collaborate with administrative staff who handle scheduling/check-ins, ensuring smooth workflow and excellent client communication. -Maintain detailed records to support shop efficiency and customer trust.
