The Adjunctive Therapist is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and conducting therapy programs. Instructs or supervises patients in recreational activities as part of a therapeutic psychiatric treatment program. Responsibilities Plan, implement, and direct therapeutic recreational programs and activities for patients. Develop treatment plan to meet needs of patient, based on needs assessment, patient interests and objectives of therapy. Conduct therapy sessions to improve patients’ mental and physical well-being. Observe, analyze, and record patients’ participation, reactions, and progress during treatment sessions, modifying treatment programs as needed. Document patient’s progress or regression during their activities. Counsel and encourage patients to develop leisure activities. Instruct patients in activities and techniques, such as sports, dance, music, art or relaxation techniques, designed to meet their specific physical or psychological needs. Encourage patients with special needs and circumstances to acquire new skills and get involved in healthy leisure activities. Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team that consults with other health care professionals in determining a total treatment plan and recommend changes based on individual observations and evaluations. Keeps current on therapeutic resources available to best help the patients. Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Requirements Education/Licensure Current CTRS License All direct patient care staff will be trained in BLS (CPR), which must be renewed every 2 years. All staff, both clinical and non-clinical, will be trained in CPI as part of their orientation. All direct patient care staff will be retrained every year.
