Loquat is a small cafe/bakery in San Francisco specializing in producing pastries with levantine flavors and jewish tradition. It is located at 198 Gough St, on the corner of a main artery of the city, on the outskirts of Hayes Valley. Our focus is to produce and prepare cakes, pastries and beverages at a quality defined by the thoughtfulness, skill, sourcing and devotion of our staff and vision. We source directly and organically whenever possible, we think and care deeply about our impact- in sustainability and in our community. What are the responsibilities of the job? -provide authentic and mindful hospitality. -make high quality coffee/espresso and tea beverages. -communicate kindly. -knowing the ins and out of everything we make and sell. -taste things, articulate your experience. -handle money. -open or close the cafe, working with locks and alarms. -carry things, like crates of milk & coffee, up to 40 lbs. -taste a lot of coffee, both here and elsewhere. -learn about coffee, both here and elsewhere. -contribute to a safe, welcoming, fun, and progressive workplace. -act as exemplary member of the café neighborhood and community. -support your colleagues and work together as a team. -do dishes. -clean everything. -welcome everyone. -be yourself. Is this a barista job? Do I need barista experience? This position is not just a barista job. But yes, barista experience is required. We make drinks but we do more than that, we create an atmosphere and an environment where our neighborhood guests, our out of town guests and our co-workers feel welcomed and taken care of. You will be expected to give outstanding customer service, make delicious coffee and serve/plate pastry dishes from the kitchen, as well as doing everything that is in between. We are looking for applicants that want to work together as a team, expand their knowledge and grow within a company.
