At Mad Science, we are having a BLAST! We pay you to have fun! Build and fly rockets, demonstrate lasers, explore the states of matter using dry ice, and help children create slime and other polymers. You will inspire the next generation of scientists through our innovative activities that show kids what science is really all about. As a Mad Scientist, you will lead students through an inquiry-based discovery method involving instructor demonstrations, hands-on activities, and amazing take-home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us. Mad Science is the world's leading provider of fun science programs for elementary-aged children. This is a part-time position and is somewhat seasonal. Pay for all Areas of Business (AOB) is hourly - including set-up and clean-up time. Starting pay is $22.00-$26.00 per hour DOE.  We are looking for HIGHLY ENERGETIC, DYNAMIC AND CONFIDENT individuals to join our growing team to conduct exciting science, engineering, and technology programs. You do NOT need to be a certified teacher (although we love that!). FALL 2025! Looking for folks to lead programming in Culver City, Santa Monica and Inglewood! Responsibilities: - Facilitating day camps, in-person workshops, and after-school science enrichment programs for children from preschool through elementary school - Deliver high-energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on programs that meet for one hour each week for approximately 8-10 weeks. - Drive to various locations across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. - Enjoy teaching young children the art of science! - Attend paid training sessions virtually or at our office. - Attend the mandatory Friday Staff Meeting every week (paid). - Be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. - Be on time for all scheduled activities. - Adhere to strict safety and cleanliness guidelines. Qualifications: - Must be available a MINIUMUM of three consistent weekday afternoons, 12-5pm. While this is a part-time position, it is critical that you are able to commit to the length of any given program (school season, camp session, after-school program, etc.), and that you are able to give us steady weekly availability. - Must have a personal vehicle as you will be transporting equipment and conducting programs across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. - Must be available for mandatory Friday meeting, 11am-12pm - Some experience teaching/ working with groups of elementary-age (4-12) children (such as an after-school teacher or camp counselor). - Minimum of 1 year of college suggested. Degrees and/or graduate degrees are a plus. - Maintain a fun, flexible, and outgoing personality!
