Job Description: Train of Thought is an organization that teaches children the rules, discipline and strategy of chess in school. Train of Thought is using the game of chess to reshape students’ lives. Since 2006, the program has been spreading its passion and love for the game of chess. This is an opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of students and families through teaching the game of chess. Whether you have teaching experience or just a passion for teaching children, we want to meet you. We are looking for mentors who have the ability to motivate, educate and help children discover everything that's great inside of them. No chess experience is required; just a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of children. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree (preferred, but not required) Teaching experience (preferred, but not required) Chess experience (preferred, but not required) Strong desire to motivate and raise the achievement levels of traditionally under-served students (required) Strong work ethics and ability to work alone or as part of a team (required) Ability to learn and teach using our curriculum and proven methods for improving at chess (required) Background check (required) Reliable transportation (required) Job Type: Part-time (20-35 hours per week) Salary: $18 per hour (training) $25 per hour (salary) Shifts Available: Monday-Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm Chess Experience: Applicants should know the basic rules of chess We teach chess at various elementary schools in the following cities: -Los Angeles -Gardena -Compton Please submit a resume and a cover letter with your chess experience to HR@chesstrain.org
