We are seeking an individual who will… • Be on time to each class. • Provide logistical support for teachers by: copying, laminating, grading papers, creating documents, etc. • Provide classroom instructional help as directed by the teacher. • Supervise outdoor and indoor recess to ensure student safety. • Promptly report student concerns, disturbances and conflicts to home room teachers. • Supervise cafeteria by assisting children with their lunches, cleaning tables, and entering lunch data on the computer. • Maintain workroom/Classroom Assistant station in an orderly fashion. • Attend Classroom Assistant meetings and contribute positively. • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information. • Connect, support, and care for students in a way that fosters student development. • Notice and report positive student behavior. • Commit to modeling the mission, especially with students. • Talk to students in a nurturing way to support students’ academic and social learning. • Stay up-to-date on communication. • Performs other related duties as assigned. The successful individual in this position will: • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. • Take initiative. • Execute things independently when needed and work cooperatively with a team regularly. Required Experience and Education. • High school diploma required. • Currently held CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (with Epinephrine Auto Injector supplement included), or arrangements made to obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date. • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer. You must meet the following physical requirements. • Accompany students to various locations around campus. • Able to clean tables and sweep floors. • Able to patrol the playground during recesses. • Able to quickly get to a student on any portion of the playground, including raised portions and play areas with wood chips. • Able to kneel; for example, beside a student lying on the ground to assist and/or perform CPR. • Able to quickly get to a student in inclement weather. • Able to lift, drag, pull or push 60 lbs. or more . • Able to climb playground equipment. Reports To: After School Director and K-8 Director Position Type: Part Time, Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday-Thursday 2:00pm-6:00pm, Friday 1:00pm-6:00pm Rate: $22.00 to $24.00 per hour, depending on experience Bentley School is a K-12 co-educational, independent day school located on two campuses in Oakland (K-8) and Lafayette (9-12), California. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: ● Support the After School Program in providing a high-quality experience for students. ● Supervise students in various environments, including library, outside/play areas, garden, and classrooms. ● Support development of regular classroom plans for students in after-school program spaces. ● Supports the development of curriculum for, and delivery of, regular enrichment programming for students in after-school programs. ● Encourage inclusive, healthy play to develop and improve students’ physical and social skills. ● Support with the daily dismissal process for all students on campus ● Be willing to jump in wherever needed on campus ● Build a trusting relationship with students and the school community ● Communicate effectively and professionally with parents, staff and faculty, and other members of the ASP team, to ensure the safety and well-being of each student. ● Assist with setup and cleanup of ASP activities. ● Ensure materials, equipment, and community spaces are used appropriately. ● May be assigned in a classroom, outdoor play area, sports court, garden, theatre, library, or assisting with traffic/dismissal process. Qualifications ● High School Diploma ● Some college-related credits in Early Childhood or Education, preferred. ● Related experience with school-age children and youth (K-8) in educational or recreational settings, preferred. ● CPR/First Aid certified, or willingness to be certified ● Ability to walk, run, bend, squat, or lift child and stand for long periods.
