Plant People Northwest is a small, sustainable landscaping company. Our service area includes North Seattle, Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, and Magnolia. We seek an experienced gardener/ horticulture grad to join our year-round crew. We’re accepting applications for part time (minimum 3 days/week) and full time. Our schedule is from 8-4, Monday through Friday (no weekends). This is a year-round position. Your daily work will include weeding, mulching, planting, pruning, fertilizing and more. You’ll also assist on installation projects from time to time. We generally do not mow lawns, except as a special favor to a client. We maintain our gardens without the use of toxic chemicals, with a focus on soil health and "right plant, right place". We pride ourselves on skillful pruning and have attended many classes with Plant Amnesty. We use mainly hand tools and only electric power tools. Our design and project team installs plantings, patios, raised beds, microspray irrigation, and more. Basic Qualifications: • Work history showing 1+ years of professional gardening experience with a Western WA, horticulture-focused company, OR a hort degree/ certification (or both!) • A working knowledge of plant and weed ID, horticulture and pruning practices. • Enthusiasm, energy, and stamina. • A cooperative, helpful, positive personality. • Adaptability with challenges, setbacks, and changes of direction. • An intuitive knowledge of how to work briskly and "look busy". • A self-directed desire to learn and grow! • Have a clean driving record, a reliable vehicle for transportation to job sites, and a smartphone for accessing our calendar and other tools.
