ShareJob Title: Music Instructor / Direct Support Professional, Day Habilitation Program SUMMARY The Music Instructor for Adult Day Habilitation Services at Lifestyles for the Disabled is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing music therapy activities aimed at positively influencing the psychological and behavioral status of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role involves developing a person-centered, evidence-based music therapy curriculum that addresses various therapeutic goals and engages service recipients in both small and large group activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, organize, and direct music therapy activities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Develop a person-centered, evidence-based music therapy curriculum tailored to individual goals. Utilize music therapeutically to address behavioral, social skills, psychological, communicative, physical, sensory-motor, emotional regulation, and cognitive functioning. Engage service recipients in leisure and educational activities through music. Promote activities that enhance wellness, manage stress, express feelings, enhance memory, and improve communication. Provide behavioral support and intervention as written in the behavior treatment plan, including physical intervention as required. Complete all required documentation on a daily basis. Information should be noted in a professional manner. Assist individuals with life skills, including living, vocational, recreational and educational skills. Protects the rights of all individuals: Is knowledgeable about the rights of people with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Respects and advocates for the capabilities, dignity and rights of each individual and files report of any human rights violation immediately. Understands that all forms of abuse, neglect, and exploitation are unacceptable. Reports any observation or suspicion of abuse or neglect to a member of administration. Complies with all company policies and procedures, and maintains certifications and credentials including but not limited to the following: Keeps current certification in all areas required by agency policy and OPWDD, including CPR, FA, Crisis Intervention, and Medication Administration. Gives and accepts feedback appropriately: Communicates concerns to the appropriate person, in a professional manner. Accepts feedback and makes an effort to improve performance and correct mistakes. Interacts with other employees in a professional and supportive manner, consistent with the mission of the agency and the interests of people served. Performs other duties and attends team/program/agency meetings as requested. ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree a plus Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or in a related field. Experience with music in teaching or performing aspect a plus Experience in special education a plus MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must have or be able to obtain CPR, First Aid, AMAP, and SCIP Certifications.
