Paralegal Hire Counsel is seeking a paralegal to work with the federal government in Cedar Rapids, IA. Must be able to obtain and maintain an MRPT security clearance. Responsibilities Include: Aids multiple Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSA). Examining, preparing and processing a variety of technical legal documents, e.g., complaints, motions, orders, answers, pleadings, and subpoenas. Providing assistance to attorneys in trial preparations.Assembling trial exhibits, affidavits, discovery in various formats, and other legal documents. Assembling and organizing files and records materials for disposition or transfer to records depository. Maintaining calendar of assigned active cases. Tracking filing, hearing, and trial dates, and scheduling conferences and interviews. Arranging travel by preparing itinerary and securing transportation and hotel reservations. Producing a variety of written documents and materials using a wide range of office software applications. Project Details: Anticipated start date: Upon successful completion of interview process and obtaining MRPT security clearance Estimated duration: 1+ year Hours: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day Location: Onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA Pay rate: $24.52/hr ($19.59 base + 4.93 H&W) Qualifications: Must be able to obtain and maintain Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location. Requires paralegal certificate, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study. One year of legal training or legal experience or at least two years of college education may be substituted for the paralegal certificate. Additionally, at least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (as related to the task order) is required Requires excellent written and oral communication skills Knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems) and spreadsheets. Automated litigation support experience valued. Must have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research.
