We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Field / Scan Technician to join ALTERPEX on a part-time or contract basis, with the potential to grow into a full-time position in the near future. About the Role: This position is mostly remote, you’ll manage your schedule and travel directly to client sites for scanning assignments. Projects are located primarily within the San Francisco Bay Area, but some out-of-state travel may be required for occasional jobs (travel expenses covered). You’ll perform as-built 3D scanning at various types of properties, including homes, offices, hotels, and shopping centers, using LiDAR or SLAM, or similar scanning equipment. The work may occasionally involve ladder use and access to attics or crawl spaces, so comfort with these environments is important. We Provide: -Professional 3D scanning equipment and training -Remote support and coordination tools -Consistent workload (3+ scanning projects per week for part-time roles) -Flexible schedule and autonomy in the field -Compensation for travel, mileage, and training -Potential path to a full-time role Requirements: -Experience with LiDAR or similar scanning systems -Ability to take on at least 3 scanning jobs per week -Strong communication and work ethic -Desire to learn and develop technical skills -Reliable transportation and willingness to travel as needed Preferred (Not Required): -Experience processing point clouds -Knowledge of Revit, ReCAP, or other architectural / CAD software -FAA Part 107 drone license -Basic photo editing or visualization skills For Contractors: We also hire on a per-project basis for contractors with their own equipment. Pay is project-based and flexible depending on the scope and size of the project. Compensation Hourly or per-project pay, depending on experience and equipment. Mileage and travel expenses are covered for out-of-area jobs. Work Environment: -Remote field position, independent, and travel-based -Involves on-site scanning, ladder use, and confined-space access -Not suitable for those uncomfortable with heights, dark spaces, or tight areas Previous experience with 3D scanning is required.
