Role: Line Cook Location: Industry City: 254 36th Street, Brooklyn NY, 11232 Employment Status: Non-exempt, hourly employee (eligible for overtime) Hourly Rate: $18 - $20 per hour (based on verifiable F&B experience) Schedule: 8 hour daytime shifts, Thursdays through Mondays About Ends Meat Ends Meat is a Whole Animal Salumeria and Butcher Shop (and prepared foods retailer) with locations in the NYC metro area. We focus on whole animal butchery, working exclusively with regional farms committed to sustainable and regenerative agriculture. Our mission is to provide high-quality fresh butchery, farm-fresh produce, fermented products, and hot lunches, alongside our traditionally inspired dry-cured meats. Description of the Role The Line Cook at Ends Meat is an integral part of the kitchen team, responsible for preparing high-quality food in a timely manner while maintaining a clean, organized, and food-safe environment. This role requires an individual who can work efficiently, follow recipes and kitchen procedures, and contribute to the smooth operation of the kitchen during service. The Line Cook is responsible for setting up and breaking down the kitchen, prepping ingredients, executing food orders, and maintaining high sanitation and food safety standards. This role requires a strong ability to multitask, work under pressure, and uphold Ends Meat’s commitment to quality and sustainability. The Line Cook reports directly to the Retail Operations General Manager and is expected to work collaboratively with other team members in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Core Responsibilities Food Preparation & Cooking Set up and break down the kitchen at the start and end of each shift. Prepare assigned ingredients, including sauces, soups, sandwiches, and other dishes. Execute food orders efficiently, ensuring all dishes meet quality and presentation standards. Maintain sharp and clean knives and other personal tools of the trade. Ensure all prepared foods, sauces, and ingredients are properly stored, labeled, and rotated according to First In, First Out (FIFO) principles. Sanitation & Kitchen Maintenance Maintain a food-safe environment by following proper sanitation protocols for surfaces, equipment, and displays. Adhere to all food safety regulations, ensuring proper handling and storage of raw and cooked products. Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and work areas throughout and at the end of each shift. Inventory & Equipment Handling Maintain strict inventory of food and kitchen supplies, notifying management when restocking is needed. Assist in receiving and organizing deliveries, ensuring proper storage of ingredients. Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and stored after use. Job Requirements Food Protection Certification from NYC DOH (or willingness to obtain). Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment, including standing for extended periods (up to 10 hours per shift, 40 hours per week). Ability to perform tasks that require crouching, kneeling, grasping, and fine manipulation. Strong communication and task management skills, with the ability to prioritize orders efficiently. Willingness to learn and take on new tasks as needed in a dynamic kitchen setting.
