Job Summary: Under the direction of the Assignments Supervisor, the Flagperson protects personnel and equipment while working on or near the tracks. The Flagperson uses various types of equipment, such as flags, whistles, discs, lights and two-way radios to ensure the safe passage of trains. The Flagperson duties primarily consist of three assignments, Switch Tender, Watchperson and Flagperson. The Switch Tender manipulates switches and signals train operators when proper switch alignment is provided. The Watchperson is charged with monitoring approaching trains and alerting work crews to clear the track of men and equipment. Peninsula Powder Coating seeks a full-time Maintenance Worker to join their team in Baraga, Michigan. The ideal person for this position is someone experienced with general maintenance (carpentry, welding, electrical and/or mechanical maintenance) and able to maintain equipment, buildings and grounds. WHAT YOU WILL DO. • Inspect, repair and maintain facilities including painting, plumbing, electrical repair (replace outlets, ballasts, fans, etc.), heating and cooling systems, grass cutting and trimming, snow removal, and minor construction jobs (cement work, general carpentry, general welding, etc.). • Maintain inventory of repair supplies and materials. • Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance duties as scheduled. • Maintain effective and professional communication with staff. HVAC experience is a strong plus. • Valid driver’s license required. • Must have own tools (hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.). • Ideal candidates are highly organized, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at once, and operate with urgency and attention to detail. • We’re looking for someone proactive, safety-conscious, and resourceful when tackling maintenance challenges. • This position involves physical labor, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, working on ladders, navigating dusty or confined spaces, and performing tasks in a variety of outdoor conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, humidity, snow, etc.).
