We are a NY deli in Asheville that bakes for both the deli and a sister restaurant downtown. We're looking for a individual to assist part-time with our baker. We make all of our pastries, desserts, and breads. This will be about 20 hours a week. Assistant to Pastry Chef responsibilities include: -Preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes -Creating new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers -Decorating pastries using different icings, toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting -The ideal candidate will have at least some baking or kitchen experience. Must be good at following directions and taking feedback. ----They must adhere to health and safety standards to provide clients with the best possible serving. Requirements: -Proven experience as a baker or kitchen experience -Great attention to detail and creativity -Organizing and listening skills -Willingness to replenish professional knowledge -In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition -Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.) -Available to work on weekends We're a Chef Owned restaurant.
