Hi there! We're looking for *experienced* wine professionals to round out our stellar team. We currently have a full-time and part-time position available at the shop. Read on for more about the gig. A BIT ABOUT US York Cellars is a gracious boutique retail wine and spirits shop based in DUMBO, Brooklyn. We curate a selection of uncommon international and domestic wines, with an emphasis on organic and biodynamic production from small-to-mid-sized producers. Here’s who we’re seeking: YOU + Are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about wine/regions/grapes + Have a firm grasp of grape varietals, regions, pairings, and winemaking fundamentals + Have experience in a wine, or wine-adjacent industry - wine retail, sommelier, fine dining, winebar + Have a friendly, outgoing, customer-first demeanor + Are a good multitasker and self-starter, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and attends to details + Are familiar with the quirks of point-of-sale systems + Enjoy tasting with others, and deep-diving on wine details RESPONSIBILITIES + REQUIREMENTS + Retail sales: assisting our community with selecting wines, and associated food pairings + Cashiering duties + Basic opening and closing retail duties + Physically able to stock/re-stock shelves and lift cases of wine and spirits (40 lbs) + Occasional local deliveries (walking distance) ESSENTIALS + This is a fun job, but it's also a retail job. E.g. evenings, holidays, and weekends all come with the position. COMPENSATION We offer competitive hourly pay, commensurate with wine experience, pooled tips, awesome employee discounts, access to industry tasting events, and other perks. Hourly: $24+ DOE, to start, with loads of opportunity for growth.
