We are looking for a medical assistant to join us Monday -Thursday for either full time hours or possibly part time hours. Ideally: Monday-Thursday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM The position has responsibilities in both office administration and direct patient care. Start Date – 11/17/25 - this will allow for overlap training with the individual currently in this position. Job Description • Using Electronic Medical Records Program, ATHENA, for all documentation purposes • Processing prescription refill requests by following pre-established office protocols based on medication indications – familiarity with typical medications used in adult primary care helpful • Obtaining prior authorizations from insurance companies for medications • Assisting with insurance referrals from our office to consultants and for radiology procedures • Addressing patient phone calls with regard to medical concerns (by relaying questions to physicians and returning answers to patients) • Liaison to VNA • Seeing patients for visits which do not require the presence of an MD – example – blood pressure check, urine checks • Rooming patients for provider visits (MD & APRN) • Ability to cross cover for other staff in the practice including MA’s and receptionists in the event of absence or vacation – requires flexibility and cross training • Other responsibilities as needed • Wage determined by experience.
