Summary of Position: The Security Officer is responsible for providing protection for the hotel, guests, and staff from incidents such as assault, theft, vandalism, harassment, and other disruptive occurrences. This role requires an individual with integrity, honesty, and a cooperative attitude toward both the job and fellow personnel. The Security Officer is a key part of maintaining a safe and welcoming environment at the hotel, ensuring that all hotel policies and procedures are enforced while providing exceptional customer service to all guests. Key Responsibilities o Enforce hotel policies and procedures to maintain a secure environment o Provide protection for the hotel, guests, and staff from incidents such as assault, theft, vandalism, harassment, and other disruptive occurrences o Perform security patrols of the hotel premises, including guest rooms, common areas, and external grounds o Respond promptly to alarms, power outages, broken water/power lines, and any security breaches o Utilize Microsoft Office and other commonly used computer programs to document incidents and maintain records o Observe and report all major incidents to the appropriate authorities and hotel management o Maintain effective radio/telephone communications to ensure seamless security operations o Work in a constant state of alertness and respond to emergencies in a safe and efficient manner o Identify and respond to guests' needs, providing excellent customer service and assistance o Build, strengthen, and maintain collaborative relationships with other departments and external partners, including law enforcement o Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance while on duty, in accordance with hotel standards o Detain individuals as necessary until police arrive, ensuring the safety and security of the hotel and its guests • Perform other duties as assigned by the Security Manager Minimum Education: o High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred Minimum Experience: o At least one year of experience in law enforcement, military, or security, preferably in building security o CPR certification preferred and any other relevant certifications o Must successfully complete a pre-hire physical and drug test Skills/Abilities o Strong knowledge of security procedures and emergency response o Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other commonly used computer programs o Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and staff o Ability to work independently, maintain a constant state of alertness, and perform duties in a safe manner o Demonstrated integrity, honesty, and professionalism o Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills, with the ability to handle stressful situations calmly o Ability to maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed professional appearance while on duty, adhering to hotel standards o Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required Benefits o Competitive wage o Eligible employees can have access to comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, and dental o 401(k) retirement savings plan to secure your future o Opportunities for professional growth and advancement within the hotel o Work in a supportive and dynamic environment that fosters professional and personal development Application Process Interested candidates can apply online or apply in person at the Hotel Captain Cook HR office.
