Our China Basin Park location marks Fieldwork’s first home in San Francisco, just a stone’s throw from Oracle Park and the Bay waterfront. Manager-on-Duty (Front of House) About the Role We’re looking for a motivated and hospitality-driven Manager-on-Duty to help lead operations at our China Basin Park location. This is a hands-on leadership position ideal for someone who thrives in a high-energy environment, loves connecting with guests, and enjoys mentoring a team. You’ll work closely with the General Manager to oversee daily service, lead front-of-house operations, and uphold Fieldwork’s high standards of guest experience and professionalism. Key Responsibilities -Lead daily operations and ensure a smooth, positive service experience. -Supervise and support team members, fostering a culture of hospitality and teamwork. -Oversee opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and shift reporting. -Maintain compliance with alcohol service laws (ABC/RBS), safety standards, and health codes. -Engage directly with guests to ensure an exceptional experience every time. -Communicate effectively with the kitchen and management teams to maintain flow during service. -Serve as the on-site lead when the General Manager is off duty. Minimum Qualifications -Must be 21 years of age or older. -1–2 years of supervisory or lead experience in a restaurant, taproom, or hospitality environment. -Valid California Food Handler Card and RBS certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days). -Excellent communication, multitasking, and leadership skills. -Ability to stand and move for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. -Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Compensation & Classification -Pay Range: $20.50–$24.00/hr + tips (commensurate with experience) -Classification: Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime pay) -Meal and rest breaks provided per California labor law. Our associates represent the spirit of Fieldwork: approachable, knowledgeable, and always ready to share great beer and conversation. Key Responsibilities -Welcome and engage guests with warmth and genuine hospitality. -Guide guests through our beer list and non-alcoholic beverage menu with confidence and enthusiasm. -Accurately handle cash and credit transactions. -Assist with food preparation while maintaining food safety standards. -Keep the location clean, stocked, and organized throughout service. -Support opening and closing duties and restock merchandise displays. -Follow all safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations. Minimum Qualifications -Must be 21 years or older. -Prior customer service or hospitality experience preferred. -Valid California Food Handler Card (or ability to obtain within 30 days). -RBS certification required to serve alcohol. -Ability to stand and move for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. -Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays. If you’re a team player who thrives in a clean, organized kitchen and loves the buzz of a busy service, you’ll fit right in. Key Responsibilities -Prepare food items according to Fieldwork’s recipes and quality standards. -Maintain proper portioning, temperature, and presentation consistency. -Keep prep stations stocked, clean, and organized throughout service. -Adhere to all food safety and health department regulations. -Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely and accurate orders. -Assist with prep, restocking, and cleanup as needed. Minimum Qualifications -Previous line cook, prep cook, or kitchen experience preferred. -Valid California Food Handler Card (or ability to obtain within 30 days). -Strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail. -Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. -Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
