JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the General Manager, Purchasing Manager, and/or Shipping Manager. The Warehouse Assistant will work in the warehouse portion of our factory in the order picking, receiving and shipping departments. The ideal candidate will be highly self-directed and able to cross-train and learn a variety of tasks in all three areas. DiMarzio, Inc. is in the process of changing and expanding the way our warehouse operates, and we are looking for a bright, motivated employee who will be able to grow and change with us. This position is primarily a Monday to Friday, on-site job from 8:00am to 4:30pm at our facility in Staten Island. Overtime is not routine but is possible occasionally. Salary begins at $18/hour, with a possible further increase after an initial performance review. Health benefits are included, and employees may join a 401(k) plan after one year. SAMPLE JOB DUTIES (will vary from day to day based on needs of the business): • Verify that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipping against documents • Use manufacturing software to ensure that items for customer and vendor orders are properly picked, packed, shipped, or received, and perform computer transactions to record these occurrences • Ensure that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles • Verify the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against records • Thoroughly check incoming goods for damage • Ensure that goods are appropriately identified for routing to other departments within the factory, and that all appropriate parties are notified when goods arrive • Prepare and keep records of goods received • Fill shipping orders from warehouse according to customer orders and/or vendor packing slips • Keep records of outgoing products and report short supplies to supervisor • Store and rearrange warehouse stock as needed • Occasionally take full inventory of finished product and perform transactions to correct any inaccuracies in computer database • Prepare products for shipment or storage • Learn the full DiMarzio product line in order be able to accurately verify content of both incoming and outgoing orders • Apply labels or enter identifying data on incoming items QUALIFICATIONS: • Ability to multitask and take on a number of diverse duties • Extreme attention to detail and ability to identify and correct errors • Ability to work as a team member with shared responsibilities and take direction as needed • Previous warehouse and/or shipping experience is desirable • Good general computer skills and ability to quickly learn new computer-based tasks • Previous experience with warehouse, shipping or label software is a bonus • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (both written and spoken) • Must be physically able to lift heavy items, climb ladders, and stand for most of the day TO APPLY: Please email resume and cover letter to reception@dimarzio.com with subject line "DIMARZIO WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT POSITION." Hello hello! 5 floor walk-up in W 40's between 8th/9th Aves, Manhattan. After 30 years we're losing both our beloved Super and Porter. We need someone who does everything except interior cleaning (we have a housekeeper for that). You must start by Dec 15th. We want someone close to our area or can be here very quickly (no outer boroughs). My husband is Co-op Board President and an engineer. We're covered the more complicated parts of being a Super for many years. We are now retired and want to travel some. Our neighbors need someone to rely on other than us. We are a very self sufficient building so I don't think it would = a lot of off hours help but we need that safety net. We are a long term owner occupied building, a close knit group who love our building and the people who work here. Garbage/Recycling/Compost (Bulk items rarely) Maintain Exterior Cleanliness including a tiny patio, power-washer provided Snow Removal/Salting Someone with boiler knowledge. It's a new boiler and we have a Boiler Maintenance contract but in case of emergency, we would like someone who can help until they arrive. Basic Repairs and Maintenance: electrical like replacing plugs or a light fixture, plumbing like clearing drains or helping in a flooding situation until a licensed plumber can arrive, painting/spackling, repairs like covering/securing a broken window or a broken step. Any concrete and tiling skills are always helpful. Extra side work for tenants is permitted. The price, scope and time negotiated would be between the tenant and super. Being able to help people put a piece of furniture together, hang shelves/TV's or moving a couch up/down the stairs would be the basic things. Prior experience as a superintendent or building maintenance worker preferred. Must have 2 job references (can be any kind of verifiable employment) Background check mandatory. Must be able to read and write in English, no need for perfection but understandable. Spanish or Polish is also helpful.
