GEEKY ROOMMATE WANTED – NW SIDE (Shannon & Overton area) AVAILABLE APRIL 1ST! Nice but a bit weird empty-nest couple has a spare bedroom to rent out. Male or female, either is fine. Our home, Casa del Geek, is 3 bedrooms, two baths, 1,800 square feet. The bedroom for lease is 144 sq ft (12' x 12') with a closet and window. FRESHLY PAINTED, and the floors were just re-done as well. The room is furnished with a desk, swivel chair, 46-inch wide-screen TV, and 2 small bookshelves. There is also a full-size bed and a large mini-fridge (3 cubic feet). Next to a bathroom (which would be shared with one other person). Renter will have run of the rest of the house too, of course. The home is in a quiet, nice neighborhood on a decent-size corner lot with little traffic. He's finally finished up the landscaping and things are starting to look pretty nice. Especially the cactus garden in the back, and the potted herbs in front. And our Bubba Jones Desert Willows are growing like gangbusters! AND we just finished re-doing all the floors. (Beautiful looks-like-wood vinyl, baby!) Brand-new washer and dryer that you will have full use of. UTILITIES INCLUDED in the rent, including lovely high-speed internet that typically runs over 600 Mpbs. You must like cats and not be allergic as we have 3 fur-babies. Sorry, but we cannot add additional cats to our mix. Be a halfway decent person and at least two of them will love you. The home is entirely furnished and it would be difficult to fit in any additional furniture in the common areas (but we could try, depending on what you might have). We are a pair of nerdy/geeky individuals. As a wise man once said, Her crazy matches His crazy. We are, as a matter of fact, completely bonkers. But here's a little secret; All the best people are. He works at a school. She is on disability. Together, they Fight Crime. We like science fiction, fantasy, and horror books, TV shows and movies. Manga and anime are here in abundance. For example, we have the complete Game of Thrones on Blue-Ray, as well as an extensive collection of other stuff. Venture Brothers, Rick & Morty, all the Marvel Studios films. All the decent zombie movies. Lots of obscure sci-fi. He is a huge animation fan (both foreign and domestic) We enjoy going to nerd/game conventions and even do a little cosplay. We also both love tabletop games, of which we have quite a few. And the Pathfinder RPG. We are also non-theists. If you're a theist that's OK, but we will not be receptive to evangelism. We are Rationalists and Free-Thinkers and such flaming liberals we make Faux “News” viewers' ears bleed. Full Disclosure and Fair Warning. What we really are looking for is a friend who would like to live with us. Hang out, play games, watch flicks, bask in the glow of mutual strangeness. So if any or all of the above sounds interesting to you, send us a reply. If it makes you scratch your head and wonder about our sanity, then this house is not for you. We are asking for $600/month. For rent paid on or before the 1st of each month, we will give a $50 discount so for practical purposes it's $550. $100 deposit and first month's rent moves you in. (The deposit is returned when you leave if you give us at least 30 days notice and there isn't any damage.) We could knock off an additional $50 per month if you take on some cleaning duties. NON SMOKERS ONLY! (unless 420 medicinal) That applies to outdoor areas as well, as clothes track in smoke. And, I hate to have to say it, but good personal hygiene is also a must. This household is fully vaxxed. We will not accept a tenant who is not. No arguments, non-negotiable. We will need to see a Vax card. Sorry not sorry. The ONLY down side here is that we are far from public transportation. You will need a car or a bike to get around. We've had roommates in the past who thought they could make it work using cabs or Ubers or walking to the nearest bus line. None of them stayed long. BUT on the plus side, we are just 1.5 miles away from the Northwest VA Clinic. (This is very helpful if you're a veteran.) It is quiet with a decent view of the mountains. And we have wild life.
