Description

We are currently looking for a Captioner to do live captioning for a conference. Candidate will be expected to attend a 2 day in-person conference on July 22nd and 23rd, 2025 in the Washington D.C. area. These service providers help provide accommodations in an effort to commit to inclusivity and respect for diverse perspectives. Responsibilities: Type information on a laptop at a formal business event Captioning- creating a transcription using Messenger Pigeon, or manually, verbatim of what the speaker(s) said.  Requirements We are looking for individuals who have Completed post secondary education or about to graduate Typing speed of 70+ wpm Comfortable in a formal environment Sensitivity to the needs of people with disabilities.  Use of own personal laptop Strong writing and editing skills Ability to analyze and process information quickly Able to work independently- being on time, dependable and able to meet deadlines This is a short term contract, with the possibility of future projects with our team (online and/or in person). Job Description 7am Start time Monday - Friday $20-25/hr Audio and Media Operator I will be responsible for jobs related to audio and media post-production services. Primary responsibilities include preparing and delivering media content. Candidate must have a strong understanding, efficiency, and skillset in Avid Pro Tools, with some experience in operating non-linear video editors. Knowledge of traditional audio formats (2.0, 5.1, 7.1, Dolby Atmos), sample rate conversion, loudness compliance standards, and post-production audio workflows is expected. Some knowledge of video types, SMPTE timecode, frame rates, and codecs is preferred. Attention to detail, excellent time management and a perfectionist mindset are paramount in this role. Prequalify and manage a high volume of multi-channel audio assets in various formats and configurations Perform technical quality control checks and create final deliverable packages for audio assets Update internal audio job trackers and other proprietary asset management systems Prepare Pro Tools sessions for internal recording, mix, editorial, and QC processes Generate and review QC and dubbing verification reports and to ensure highest possible quality standards for final audio mixes Editorial and conform of standard configuration audio assets Perform linear technical audio QCs for catastrophic playback errors Requirements Bachelor’s degree or equivalent trade specific education 2+ years in audio post-production or media service projects for film and tv Excellent Pro Tools operational skills, including the use of video in Pro Tools Basic Non-linear video workstation editor skills Excel and other MS Office application software Excellent communication skills over phone and email Deep sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with self-direction Problem solver with creative and innovative approach and ability to think out of the box Outstanding attention to detail Preferred Strong skills with Mac OS and Microsoft Office Suite Familiarity with other media applications such as Adobe Suite and Final Cut Pro Physical Requirements Ability to continuously sit in an office chair Ability to operate and work in front of a computer in an audio room setting
