Western Specialty Contractors is currently looking for self-motivated, top notch individuals to help serve our customers as a Union Skilled Laborer at our Kansas City, MO branch. As a member of the branch production team, you will be responsible for the performance of work within a particular work area and in accordance with generally accepted standards of the crafts. Experienced skilled laborers are all encouraged to apply! Masons and Tuckpointers – Experience in the work tasks of brick replacement, lintel replacement, mortar removal and replacement and stone repair. Waterproofers – Experience in the works tasks of below grade and building envelope waterproofing, pedestrian and vehicular coatings. Caulkers – Experience in the work tasks of sealant removal and replacement around windows including glass glazing, window perimeters, control joints and expansion joints. Concrete Journeymen – Experience in the work tasks of concrete repair including small and large patches on horizontal and vertical concrete surfaces, epoxy and urethane injection, carbon fiber reinforcement, grout pocket patching, post tension repairs and concrete sealing. Experienced and non-experienced laborers Requirements To be qualified for this job, experience in a trade or craft is preferred. To be considered, you must be able to demonstrate sufficient reading, writing and math skills to comprehend and explain company safety policies and material instruction. Physically, workers must be able to stand or walk for long periods; lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more; climb ladders, scaffolds and other objects carrying tools and equipment; and see (naturally or with correction). Ability to work at heights, extreme temperatures and to wear company's safety equipment is essential. Must be able to use logical step-by-step procedures in working with different materials using a variety of skills. Must be able to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy and be able to judge straight lines, spaces and proportions. Must be able to demonstrate sufficient reading, writing and math skills to comprehend and explain company safety policies and material instruction. The ability to read drawings is necessary. Identify existing and predictable hazards in work surroundings, including working conditions that are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous to employees. Physically, workers must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more; climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds and other objects and carry tools and equipment; and see well (either naturally or with correction). Abilities to work at heights, at extreme temperatures and to wear company’s safety equipment are essential. Practical construction experience preferred. Must have own “hand tools of the trade.” May be required to work weekends, nights, out of town and at heights. Must have reliable transportation. Trim, laminate, mount, and package graphic materials for shipping while maintaining accuracy and production quality. Prepare digitally printed rolls and apply graphics to panels and substrates. Provide quality control at key stages of the production process, ensuring final output meets project specifications. Follow graphic proofs and schematics for fabrication, layout, and application. Execute file prep and review pre-flight details prior to production. Maintain accurate documentation and manifest panels and packages for shipping. Communicate with internal teams (Pre-Press, Project Management, Fabrication) to ensure alignment on print requirements and timelines. Manage material tracking, report shortages, and communicate reorders to Purchasing. Stay current on emerging tools and best practices; support continuous improvement initiatives. Additional Responsibilities Act as Graphics Lead on-site, including: Installing and applying graphics during move-in and throughout the event. Collaborating with the production manager and foreman to lead onsite graphic deployment. Managing all graphic-related issues on-site and escalating when needed. Reviewing show books, floorplans, schematics, and proofs prior to site arrival. Ensuring consistency in branding, quality, and installation.
