Residential Designer (Bend)

RESIDENTIAL HOME DESIGNER (Please note: This position is NOT available for remote work) SUN FOREST CONSTRUCTION, beautiful Central Oregon’s most longstanding and diversified remodel and custom home builder known for its integrity, quality and service has an opening for a Residential Home Designer to join our talented team. This person will work with clients to design and prepare detailed drawings for new custom home and remodel projects using 3D architectural design software. POSITION SUMMARY: This person will prepare detailed drawings and plans of architectural and structural features for new custom home and remodel projects using REVIT. Interaction with clients in a sales capacity is also a key function of this job. QUALIFICATIONS: -Proficiency with REVIT or similar architectural design software. -Degree or equivalent, with formal architectural education required. -Prefer candidate with 5+ years of custom home design experience. -Prefer candidate with residential construction and building experience. -Background in construction drawings and design for design review and permit submittal. -Thorough understanding of design concepts as they pertain to residential building. -Valid Oregon Driver’s License and good driving record that meet insurance requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: -Must be computer literate with REVIT or similar architectural design software. -Proven experience designing high end residential projects. -Understanding of design principles and spatial relationships. -Must have the skills and ability to interpret complex architectural plans, details and blueprints. -Working knowledge of construction practices and understanding of building code compliance. Some hands-on construction experience helpful. -Must be personable, articulate, well read, up to date on current events, with a polished and professional image, and able to represent the company well in a sales capacity, both verbally and in written communications. -Must be well organized and an effective time manager, to ensure that all aspects of the project assigned are completed on schedule. -Must have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to deal effectively and professionally with coworkers, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and others involved with business operations. -Must have high ethical standards & be able to uphold Sun Forest’s excellent reputation in the business community. -Must have the physical ability to meet the demands of the position, which include standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and reaching. -Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions within the limits of the physical demands of this position. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: -Forms a solid partnership with the sales team to engage clients in the design/build process and generate customer loyalty to SFC through confidence in the quality of our product, enthusiasm, charisma, communication skills, and design knowledge. -Apply drafting and mechanical knowledge and techniques to prepare plans from schematic design through construction drawings. -Apply construction and design background to analyze and prepare working drawings. -Apply field notes to detailed technical drawings. -Apply basic land surveying techniques in preparation of site plans. -Balance time appropriately between multiple clients. -Effectively and professionally communicate with all parties involved with the project on a regular basis, including keeping the Department Manager and Project Managers informed of any challenges or issues that may arise. -Exhibits good judgment, high ethical standards, and competent decision-making skills at all times, and represents Sun Forest reputably with our clients, staff, suppliers, business associates, and in the community.
