Small litigation firm that focuses on complex business cases, mostly in the franchise industry. We are looking for an attorney who wants to grow with us. Are you looking to gain experience in every aspect of litigation? Are you excited about actually taking cases to trial and learning more about how to prepare cases for it? Then this is the right opportunity for you. A growth mindset is key: your experience is less important than your willingness to learn. The preferred candidate will possess 0-2 years of California state court civil litigation experience (whether as an attorney or clerk). Federal court litigation experience a plus. Any amount of franchise litigation experience is a major plus. Candidates with limited or no experience will be considered if they can demonstrate exceptional drafting skills. You will be workin directly with our managing partner. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable litigation experience as you will have the opportunity to run your own cases once you are up to speed. In-person attendance will be required full-time at least during the initial training phase. Once full trained, we are flexible with work from home. Your typical day will require flexibility, creativity, attention to details and solid time management. Specific responsibilities include: • Research caselaw and write motions; review and draft discovery; take and defend depositions; • Meet and collaborate with attorneys and paralegals on strategy; • Report, track, and update statuses on matters; • Attend court hearings; • Provide support for other staff and collaborate with staff. *Required Qualifications • 0-2 years of California civil litigation experience (willing to consider clerking experience for candidates with exceptional drafting skills) • Strong drafting sills (mandatory); • Ownership of (and pride in) one’s own work product; • Ability to follow instructions, and especially willingness to change direction on a task following constructive feedback; • Attention to details. *Desired Qualifications • Law and Motion experience • Franchise Law experience (CFIL/CFRA/FTC) • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; • Ability to interact with integrity and a high level of professionalism with all levels of team members, management and opposing counsel; • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
