Description

Strategic Legal Practices is seeking a full-time Fee Motion Attorney in Los Angeles, CA with demonstrated expertise in drafting, opposing, and arguing attorneys’ fee motions. This attorney will play a key role in pursuing and defending the firm’s rights to attorneys’ fees in complex litigation matters. We are looking for a tenacious, strategic, and highly skilled litigator who has a strong command of the legal and procedural framework around attorneys’ fees, including experience with California’s fee-shifting statutes and federal lodestar analysis. This attorney will be a part of a team of fee motion drafters, collaborating with litigation teams and legal operations to produce persuasive, well-supported motions and present arguments in court when necessary. Our robust infrastructure enables fee motion attorneys to focus on writing fee motions while maintaining an attainable work/life balance and delivering a high-quality work product within the firm’s dynamic Fee Motion Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Fee Motion-Specific Responsibilities Drafting detailed and well-supported motions for attorneys’ fees in both California state and federal courts Preparing replies to oppositions with strong legal analysis and persuasive rebuttals Arguing fee motions at hearings, including presenting lodestar justifications and addressing court inquiries Apply statutory fee entitlement provisions, including requests for multipliers and enhancements Working with the fee motion support team to collect time records, declarations, and documentation in support of executing assigned motions Managing and tracking a high-volume docket of deadlines and assignments within the fee motion department General Litigation Responsibilities Draft fee motions and fee motion replies to oppositions Attend fee motion and general hearings in support of the firm Argue fee motions in court Independently manage your own litigation caseload Perform other litigation-related duties and meet firm deadlines Requirements Licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar 4+ years of litigation experience, with proven experience drafting and arguing attorneys’ fee motions Deep understanding of fee-shifting statutes, lodestar methodologies, and multiplier arguments Exceptional writing, legal analysis, and oral advocacy skills Strong organizational skills, with the ability to juggle high-volume, deadline-driven matters Collaborative mindset and ability to function effectively as part of a team-oriented department Comfortable with judges, opposing counsel, and internal staff interactions Tech-savvy and confident using modern case management systems and billing tools Preferred Experience: Experience in consumer protection, Lemon Law, or complex civil litigation Oral argument experience, particularly in motion or fee-related hearings Benefits We’re committed to supporting the well-being and success of our team through a robust and thoughtfully designed benefits package, including: 401(k) with Employer Match – Plan for your future with confidence and company support.
