POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for performing installations, maintenance and repairs of plumbing, carpentry, and painting work in retail stores, warehouses, office buildings, and other facilities. Occasionally responsible for providing guidance to other technicians. This associate must have reliable personal transportation and be able to travel daily to various locations within the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The associate will perform strenuous work on a regular basis. The Associate must be able to work a regular Monday – Friday daytime schedule and a rotating on call schedule that includes evenings, weekends and/or holidays (including answering and dispatching emergency calls as needed). This position is responsible and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. With minimal supervision, responsible for installations, maintenance and repairs of, plumbing, carpentry, painting, fixture repair and assembly, as well as other general handyman tasks in retail stores, warehouses, office buildings, and other facilities as needed. Identifies, maintains and implements solutions for assigned tasks. Evaluate problematic systems of facilities and determine what repair services need to be performed by others. Provide suggestions and recommendations as needed. 2. Updates our computerized maintenance management system in a timely manner as assigned tasks are completed or issues arise that prevent completion. 3. Answer and dispatch emergency calls as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor during on call periods.. 4. Using company accounts, purchases repair and maintenance materials as needed. Maintains and stock supply inventory; gathers and compiles information. 5. Performs all assigned tasks in a safe, workmanlike manner, and in accordance with any local building code requirements. 6. Tracks mileage and other reimbursable expenses and submits properly completed expense report at least once per month. 7. This position requires daily travel within the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. 8. Flexibility in work hours and the ability to work occasional nights and/or weekends is required in accordance with a published on call schedule. Other Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provide senior level guidance and training. 2. Administers and services the core locking system that is installed at all locations. 3. Clock in and out for work shifts and lunch on the company’s timekeeping system. 4. Complete required monthly safety training and any other required training. Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Required Qualifications: 1. High school graduate or equivalent. 2. Two to Four years’ of recent experience in maintenance of a multi-unit commercial building or retail environment that required driving between work locations. 3. Considerable knowledge and experience in plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance and repair in a commercial setting. 4. General understanding of various Federal, State and County codes and regulations involving construction, installation, fire, safety and sanitation. 5. Must have own reliable transportation and valid “clear” driver’s license and be able to drive to any location within the Goodwill market area. 6. Proficient in using MS Office Outlook (email and calendar) 7. Ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions. 8. Ability to prioritize effectively. Preferred Qualifications: 1. High School Diplomas or GED, advanced studies preferred. 2. 5+ years of previous experience in general carpentry, plumbing, painting, and other general maintenance activities. Physical Demands Sedentary Lifting up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers, and files. Walking and standing are required only occasionally. Light Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/ carrying objects weighing up to10 pounds. Walking or standing to a significant degree, involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling. Medium Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/ carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. X - Heavy Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Regular use of hands and arms to operate tools and equipment and to push, pull and grasp objects. Specific vision abilities required include color vision, close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Limited General office environment infrequently exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.) Moderate Occasionally exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise fumes, dust, etc.) X - High Frequently exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions including fumes or airborne particles and may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. Includes regular work near moving mechanical parts, and in varying conditions of extreme heat, extreme cold and wet and/or humid.
